What are some signs you're about to pass a kidney stone?

I have my first kidney stone, I’ve been waiting for it to pass, and I don’t know what to look for. I do know that currently I have to pee really bad but whenever I try and go, nothing comes out. Is it close?

You’re not likely to have signs and symptoms unless a kidney stone is large, causes a blockage, is associated with an infection or is being passed. Then the most common symptom is an intense, colicky pain that may fluctuate in intensity over periods of five to 15 minutes. The pain usually starts in your back or your side just under or below the edge of your ribs. As the stone moves down the ureter toward your bladder, the pain may radiate to your lower abdomen, groin and genital structures on that side. If the stone stops moving, the pain may stop too. Other signs and symptoms may include:
* Bloody, cloudy or foul-smelling urine
* Nausea and vomiting
* Persistent urge to urinate
* Fever and chills if an infection is present

okay…listen if you cant pee thats a HORRIBLE SIGN!….by dad is a doctor and he has severe kidney stones and when you cant pee thats horrible you may have collic thats means the stone is too big to pass…also if you can pee when your about to pass it you have sharp pains in your side and blood in your urine………..hope your alright ♥

When I had my kidney stone, I had to pee often. I don’t recall ever having any trouble peeing, but the stone may be blocking the flow of urine. I did have blood in my urine, it was an orangish color. And of course, the excruciating pain. Unless the stone is very small or at just the right angle, you should be having at least some pain, mine got pretty intense. You didn’t mention if you’d been to the doctor, but when they discoverd the stone, they gave me a strainer to use everytime I urinate to catch the stone. Depending on the size, you may or may not feel it when it comes out, I didn’t feel mine, but caught it in the strainer. If you continue to be unable to pee, I would go to the doctor, but if you’re having pain, that is an indicator that the stone is moving through you and is on it’s way out soon. It may take a few hours or it may not pass for a couple of days. Just have some pain medication handy and watch your urine.
