Yesterday evening I started having bad cramps, nausea, and pain in the lower part of my back on the left side. I tried a heating pad, took a bath but nothing has helped the pain. I wasn’t able to sleep at all and the pain isn’t going away. I think this might be a kidney stone but I’m not sure if I really need to go to a dr. The pain is bad but not unbearable. I have been drinking lots of water but I also don’t want to take any pain killers bc I might be pregnant but it’s a little too soon to test. Is there anything else I can do to help ease the pain?

Went to the ER 4 days ago with sudden onset of pain, turns out I had 1 kidney stone on the way out and 6 more in my kidney. I had an IV for fluids, nausea and pain and was sent home with meds for the same. I have been sore but getting better. Today, day 4 I am so nauseated its making me crazy, and that with Zofran (ms).
I know I am at fault, I didn’t make a follow up with my reg doc, 4 kids at home and not feeling good, it just wasn’t on my radar. I call the ER and asked if this was "normal" or if another one may have dislodged and if I should come back in. I was greeted with the ole cautious "we can’t say, we can’t tell you over the phone" arrggg,
Question to you all… do I ER or not ER? I have no fever, dull ache in the opposite side as last time and maximum nausea. I am an Army wife so cost isnt an issue however, as you can tell, I would hate to abuse the ER by "stopping in" because my tummy is upset…
nausea is my ONLY SYMPTOM. Someone help!?

Had a bunch of tests. everything was fine. Ultrasound technician said I had a tiny kidney stone but that it was nothing to worry about. Had everything checked–everything. Been going on for 6 months on and off. Nausea starts around 3 or 4pm until around bedtime. (11:00) Nothing else is wrong. ONLY nausea. Not sure where to go from here. Had an endoscopy this past summer, gall bladder check, stool check, all of it. Why am I sick everyday after 3pm?
Not pregnant either–gyno checked.

i had a urinary tract infection 2 days ago, but it gone. but now, my sides feel soar. i know i don’t have kidney stones, they did a x-ray, my kidney were fine. i looked up symptoms for a kidney infection but i don’t have any symptoms, i don’t have:
Fever (usually present) and/or chills
Feeling sick (malaise)
Nausea and vomiting
Blood in the urine (hematuria)
Cloudy or foul-smelling urine
Pain when urinating
Increased frequency or urgency of urination
i been taking penicillin, which killed my UTI, do u think i have a kidney infection now & should on keeping taking penicillin?

It starts at my lower back (left side). Then one day the pain may be in my groin and then eventually down to my left testicle. Then the pain can go back to my lower back, then maybe the groin, back to the testicle. There is no rhyme or reason but it’s a dull and then sometimes sharp pain. Other times I may be ok but I will eventually feel pain on my left side. Here are a few other symptoms: The pain magnifies when lying down (especially in my testicle). My left testicle swells up at times. My Urologist has some theories but I’m hoping to narrow these down to know what the actual problem is? He first thought epdidymitis which is an infection of the left testicle but I didn’t have fever, chills or nausea? So I’m not satisfied with that diagnosis. Then he thinks maybe kidney stones? Man I hope not? But here again, I don’t have blood in the urine so I’m not so sure this is right? Plus I had an ultrasound done and it didn’t seem to show up?
This has been going on for 2 weeks. I am 50 years old. Any other thoughts? Constructive advice and stories are appreciated. Thanks very much.

17 year old male. I had mono since December 24, 2008. I was hospitalized because my lymph nodes got so big it stopped my breathing. Then about 2 months later i go back to school for 1 day and i caught phenomena. So know i have been throwing up for 2 weeks. Nothing has worked for nausea. I have been to hospital 6 times to get me rehydrated and i got a cat scan and all my lymph nodes in my lower belly were swollen. I have been getting way weaker than i was. My balance is way off, vision is a lot worse, had a migraine for a month. It burns really bad when i pee and i have been tested for UTI, STD, and kidney stones all came back negative so that just baffled them. I have been getting real bad pains right above my groin to were i cant even bend there cause it hurts so bad. My one doctor says it is all mono that is it. My bowel habits have changed as well. I decided to get a second opinion at a gasterologist and they are doing a colonoscopy, and the mouth one with a biopsy i don’t really know what for though. My nausea has been so bad they made me go to a compound pharmacy to get this cream i put on my arm and it really don’t work. I have been very miserable.
So does mono get worse and are all these symptoms of mono?
Im sick of being really sick. Also i been sweating like a pig even when it is very cold

I’m afraid I may have a kidney stone. Both of my parents have had them and I hear they are hereditary. It started out as an excruciating pain in my back (kidney area). It will sometimes reduce to a dull ache, but then it will return severely. I can’t seem to get comfortable no matter how I stand, sit, or lie. At times, I feel the pain in my lower abdomen/pelvis. I have also had waves of nausea. However, I have not seen any blood in my urine. Could this still be a kidney stone?

I’m a teen boy and in recent days I’ve had very mild, dull kidney and abdominal pains and just today it got a little worse (the pain isn’t sharp it just aches) I don’t have nausea or a fever and it doesnt hurt or burn when I pee. theres no blood when I pee and I don’t feel the urge to go all the time. the only symptoms I have so far are aches.

I am 19 years old and have had gastro issues since 5. It started out as just stomach aches and grew to diarreah and nausea. Since january its vomiting now, too. Ive had gastric emptying study, ct scans, barium swalllows, multiple upper and lower endoscopies… the works. I was falsly diagnosed with celiac. I had an ibs diagnosis for years but medicAtions didnt help but rather made it worse. I was on reglan through iv at one point and it was terrible because i dont need to be sped up. Pretty much at this point i just had a ct scan with fold prominence and wall thickening but my new gastro dr doesnt think its crohns ( my dr in the stAte i just moved from thinks it is). shes stRting all the damn tests over again im really upset about it. My symptoms are diarreah ( mostly after eating) pain above the belly button, nausea, vomiting, & weight loss. its Dehydrating me to where im constantly getting ivs and kidney stones. does anyone have similar problems? I really cant live like this anymore

I’ve had left flank pain for about a year. Between now and then, I’ve had: bladder, kidney, and UTI infections. Blood in urine, nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, feverish and chills, blocked ureter (had nephrostomy tube for 2 months) and kidney stones. My urologist and nephrologist don’t think it’s kidney related. But it seems like it is. What is it and what should I do? I have ct scans with pain when nothing shows up.

When ever I’m hungry and don’t eat I get this nausea feeling and sometimes i guess acid comes up and get this throw up feeling. I sometimes get chest pains. I also used to get strong kidney pains usually on one side and i would throw up and fall asleep until the pain would go away and when i peed it hurt. I went to the hospital but they didn’t find anything. But I remember reading kidney stones are undetectable in the hospital unless you’re in pain at the moment.
I’m exactly 10 weeks pregnant today, and all last night and today I was having extremely severe stomach pains. And lower tummy cramping. I tried to go to the bathroom and when I did.. Something came out of my vagina (gross I know) but it almost looked like chicken fat & it was covered in a dark colored blood. So covered that I couldn’t tell what it was. Mostly because I was grossed out so I flushed it really quick without taking a hard look at it. Now my nausea is gone, but I’m feeling sharp pains again. I’m swollen from my waist down, and very very sleepy. What is this? Do you think it’s a miscarrage? Help please!!! No rude comments..

I had severe back pain for over a week. My insides feel like someone is ripping them out. Cramps, really tired, not hungry, no headache, chills are gone, bright red blood coating my stool, nausea subsided, and my stomach is really big. I drink lots of tea and only eat enough to survive. I have had other kidney stones before but never blood in my stool before. Please help I have bad insurance.

I’ve had a kidney stone for a little over a week and a half now. It has yet to pass, hopefully it’s getting close. I’ve had all the bad back pain, nausea, and stomach pain that goes along with kidney stones. They don’t know the cause of the kidney stone until I catch it, when it passes and they analyze it. I had three a little over a month ago that were caused by ice cream, then my boyfriend, who is about 30 years older than me, got one a week later caused by caffeine. Now I haven’t had anything that "causes" them since the last one, but I’ve got another one, which they confirmed at the e.r. a week and a half ago.
This morning I woke up with vomiting and bloody diarrhea. Not blood when I wipe but blood in the actual diarrhea. Does anyone know if this could be related to the kidney stones? I am trying to avoid going back to the e.r. because it’s possible for me to get sick there when people around me are sick (since I have a lowered immune system due to other illnesses) and I won’t be able to see a primary care doctor for about 45 days. Any insight on the cause, or if they are connected would be helpful.

I’m 18 now and during middle school and freshman year of high school I used to get sever pain on the right side of my back and above the ribs on the ride side. I also had nausea. I used to think i had kidney stones because when i would pee, it would hurt like a stinging. But the doctors didn’t find anything. I recently checked symptoms of gallstones and I’m pretty sure thats what I had. I’d like to know, since I havent had the pain in all these years, does it mean it’s gone?

How To Pass A Kidney Stone
Ok so im a 16 year old male who is scared to death of pain. I hear from people that passing a kidney stone is almost the same pain as giving birth. I have been having this pain in my lower left and right back now for about 4-5 months. The weird thing is though is that is go’s off and on. On day it will hurt for a little bit and then it will stop for another 3 months and then it will start up again. I’m soooo scared and i dont want to basically give birth! Please help me!
I also get nervous very easily and i kinda have some nausea right now. I don’t have a fever or anything.
I haven’t gotten my period all month, and I usually have regular periods. I have kidney stone but I’m aware that has nothing to do with it. I haven’t been stressed, and haven’t been over excersizing to miss my period. i

I’m sixteen. On Tuesday (the 18th), I randomly passed a kidney stone. Over all, I was only in pain for about an hour. The pain started to dull as we arrived at the ER.
My blood was taken and the nurses (along with my mom, who has had a kidney stone), said that the pain would probably come back which is way I was getting set up to be hooked up to an IV. They told me to go to the bathroom (in a cup), and when I came out, I had passed my kidney stone.
I had a CT scan and they found out that I had a UTI (which I have antibiotics for, to finish next Tuesday), and hydronephrosis of my right kidney.. We went to the doctors (Thursday), and the UTI is gone but she wants me to stay on my antibiotic.
Every since I passed my kidney stone, I’ve been feeling very achey (which the doctor said should have gone away by now), tired and just out of it. I have frequent waves of nausea but no actual vomit… And I randomly black out. Only for a few seconds, my vision goes black and then fades back in, along with dizziness.
I don’t know if this is normal, what I’m supposed to do, what. So if someone could tell me, or if I need to call my doctor or doing something for it…or if this is just a reaction to the antibiotic I’m on.

This all started 5 weeks ago, I had just finished a night of heavy drinking and had an ibuprofen. The next day I woke up, felt ok.. but later in the day my left side started to ache. It wasn’t that bad at all, but I noticed it. Well, I had a wedding to go to so I ended up drinking again that night (I usually don’t drink this much, didn’t really feel up to it either.) Well the next day, I woke up to my vein in my left testicle that was completely enlarged. Also when I tried bend over to try to pick something up there would be a slight ache in my left side. 4 days had passed and it wouldn’t go away, so I went to the er. They did a ct scan and "think" they found a 2mm kidney stone, but also thought it might be a "calcium deposit." Well, I started drinking a lot of water, and over the course of a few weeks the pain started to change. A large muscle began to bulge out on the left side of my back, closest to my spine.. also if I would press deep inside my left flank area, I could feel a sore tenderness. My left rib has started to become sore underneath, and just last week I started to feel a sensation of nausea coming from the left side, sometimes right (intermittent, every few days). What suprised me was my kidney ultrasound yesterday came back normal, no stone.. yet the strange aches persist and I have not passed a stone in my urine. Also, many veins have been appearing in my scrotum (purple and red small veins.) the urologist says these are normal, but I definitely did not have these before the incident. I’ve been drinking a lot of water, no alcohol. I did have a blood test that showed slightly elevated liver ALT enzyme of 71, but the doctor says its not that bad and shouldn’t be causing my symptoms. A few days ago after massaging the slight bulge in my left back (most doctors think its a muscle) the ache spread to the right side (for about a day) but then disappeared. I can only describe the side pain as a sort of nausea, and uncomfortable feeling under my rib. It is almost impossible to find anything that matches all of these symptoms. I am having an h pylori test, and possibly an upper edoscopy next week. Does any have any ideas of what could be causing this, I am only 27 and have next been sick for this long?
note, they found a small vericocele in my left testicle.. not really having problems "down there" lately. Mostly just side pain and back pain.
