I had a baby 6 months ago. During my pregnancy I had several kidney stones and was told that my kidneys were a little smaller than they should be. I had a stent put in and later had lithotripsy and have not had any problems since. Any ideas why it might be elevated?
The Creatinine clearance level was 133. Values should have been under 128.
Thanks for the info. My dr is out of town but his nurse is scheduling me an appt with a nephrologist.
I have one. What is the best way to get rid of one? I’m open to anything, natural methods too. Lithotripsy or ureteroscope? people that have had this problem I’d love to hear from.
thnx

Have any of you had a lithotripsy?
My boyfriend has kidneys full of stones and has been recommended for a lithotripsy, however, he has a lot of other medical issues – he has Cystic Fibrosis – and we are nervous about the side effects: among his issues he has had pulmonary hypertension in the past and we dont want to risk hypertension or renal failure. But passing stones is terrible for him too and we dont know what to do.
So, are there any healthcare providers out there who would like to weigh in? Also, I’d love to hear back from someone who has had a lithotripsy about their experience.
As a side note – we cant modify his diet to avoid stones, its too important to keep his diet up to deal with his CF
Anyone had to take percocet while pregnant for Kidney Stones?
This is my third pregnancy. I have multiple kidney stones in both kidney-had to have lithotripsy in week 28 for a stone blocking the right kidney. Have continued to have pain and been prescribed Percocet 5/325. So far, the most I have had to take is 4 tablets over 24 hours. Most days, I only have to take two. Anyone in a similar situation?
Please don’t judge if you’ve never had kidney stones…
Need medical help! please! urgent!!!?
I have been to alot of doctors but nobody has been able to link my symptoms together. i been doing my own research i need help from a knowlagable person. i have ribs that pop and crackle when i breath deep. i suffer from postural tachycardia and postural hypertention. also after being on my feet for more than 20 mins my urine gets very couldy. if i stay in bed and dont move around my urine stays clear. i also get harsh cardiac pvc’s but only if i was moving around that day. if i go to the store. then that night i will have a battle with pvc;s cloudy urine. it also seems that when i just move around on my feet my chest inflamation flares up. i have been trying to find an illness that can connect these things. i have been trying to find an illness that can link. costochondritis, postural tachycardia/hypertention. cloudy urine. and dysrythmias. together.
the strange this is all of this seemd to have started about a month after having a lithotripsy for kidney stones. they said i had a slightly enlarged right kidney but they said it was probly ware i had the stones. i had severe hydronephrosis from the stone and that mixed with the lithotripsy they said the enlargment was most likley a result of the stones. i have been to 3 urologist none seem to be concerned about the cloudy urine nor do they think my kidney are relavent to my illness. please! give me some illnesses that can link these things together so i can research them and present them to my doctor so i can possibly try to find why im sick. its been 2 years now. im starting to get desparate. anything you can tell me will help. thanx!!!

Are there any other alternatives to get rid of kidney stones other than surgery or lithotripsy?
My father had a history of kidney stones for the past ten years. He was gone through two procedures before to get these stones from his kidney out using the lithotripsy option, which was described to be very painful but it did not get rid of the problem. He has again diagnosed with another kidney stone and the doctors suggested lithotripsy again. We are very concern and we are seeking other alternatives other than this same procedures that have been conducted before. The stone is about 8mm, considered big. If you have any answers or suggestions as to ways or other alternatives other than the two procedures above that are safe and less painful, please let me know. We need answers as soon as possible before he has to go through surgery in the next couple of weeks and the doctors are calling to schedule an appointment for his surgery already. Thank you so much. I’m looking forward to hearing from you soon, and hopefully you have helpful answers and suggestions to my concerns.
will my lithotripsy hurt?
i have a 11mm kidney stone in my left kidney and a smaller one in my right. i have had a stint fitted in my urether and have an appointment for a lithotripsy this saturday. The following friday i get the stint out. will these proceedures hurt?? will it hurt passing the stones and how long will that take?
I just had surgery yesterday and had bilateral stints and 2 lithotripsy treatments while I was under anesthesia. When I woke up I felt the urge to urinate. Since I went home last night, I have done nothing but pee at least every hour or half hour. I am trying to drink lots of fluids and a little solid food but sometimes I feel sick to my stomach after I use the restroom. When I do use the restroom, my back and sides hurt really bad. I am trying to drink as much water as possible along with tea and gatoraid. Any suggestions to getting through this easier? What is the best thing to eat or drink? Any tricks to not urinating so frequent?
I'm having right side abdominal pain at night – what could it be?
4 weeks ago I began to experience right side abdomonial pain. A urinalysis revealed blood & bacteria & I was diagnosed with a kidney infection. I took Levaquin for 10 days. Symptoms improved but did not completely go away. After 2 weeks another urinalysis indicated blood but no infection; an x-ray showed kidney stones. I was referred to a urologist & had an ivp. After reviewing the x-ray & ivp results, the urologist advised that I had a kidney stone that was too big to pass & recommended lithotripsy…but this kidney stone is on the LEFT side…not the source of my pain! The pain that have been feeling has progressed & is occurring every night. I am virtually painfree during the day…but after about 4-5 hours of sleep…the pain awakens me from a sound sleep. After resting in a reclining position for 1-2 hours the pain subsides. I have made no correlation to eating habits & my OB/GYN ruled out anything in the pelvis…not surprising as the pain is up higher under the ribcage.
Drinking vinegar for kidney stones?
I generally laugh at home remedies, because I feel like the billions spent on medical research would confirm or deny them, BUT my friend suffered for three weeks with a kidney stone. Pain so bad they had him on morphine. He was scheduled for lithotripsy (ultrasound breaking up), but last week he started a vinegar-drinking regimen, and within two days passed huge amounts of flakes and the stone was gone. What the heck? Sounds to me like it worked. The doc pooh-poohed it, but admitted the stone was gone. What the heck?
my husband had 3 stones at once a surgery , but it did not work will lithotripsy shock wave work
meaning having a lithotripsy will break the stones up without going through any more surgeries
CAn local anesthesia for Lithotripsy can paralise large intestine for long time or short time?
My husband went through Lithotripsy on 15th JAn morning.Since then he has problem of bowel movement even after glycerin supplement ( almond with nut shaped bowel passed),and some water inserted in emergency ( Just about 100 gram stool passed) X ray shows right side of large intestine is full. and there was little bit at the end which came out after emergency procedure. last night he has medication for passing the bowel I don’t know what will happen in morning. it is night now.
I went into the hospital for kidney stones. This making my 5th trip in for these things in less than 3 years. Each and every time I have to have them surgically removed. They are too big to pass and lithotripsy does not work on my kind of kidney stones. This time after having them removed, my kidney decided it did not want to work properly. It became obstructed and my left kidney was having to work overtime to make up for it. Now to the point. I have gained 25 pounds in one week after leaving the hospital. This CANNOT be normal. None of my medicines have changed since the surgery besides the normal prescribed pain killers. Which I barely took any. My diet has not changed. I stay on a strict 1000 calories a day diet. Yes I was bed ridden for a week. But come on! 25 POUNDS IN 1 WEEK! Being bed ridden for a little while could not possibly cause that. What on earth could be making me gain so much weight so quickly?
I had a 13mm kidney stone and had lithotripsy yesterday to break it up. The doctor decided to put a stent in, and said I should have it in for 4 weeks. I’m in extreme pain and discomfort, and it isn’t even my kidney that’s hurting. It’s the bladder/stent. Pain killers aren’t working on my pain. Everybody at the surgery center was like "WOW!!" when my doctor said I had to have it for 4 weeks. Is that normal? I had the impression that you only had it for a week at most. I don’t think I’m going to be able to stand it too much longer, especially since I have to go to school and am having trouble walking. I’d really like to know when the earliest possible time I could get my stent out would be.
Does anyone know about using lithotripsy (sound waves) for gallstones instead of surgery (cholecystectomy)?
About a year ago, I had a gallstone attack for the first time. I am in my 30’s. I went to the ER; ultrasound found a single gallstone. I think the report said it was 5mm. They recommended a low fat diet & gallbladder removal surgery (cholecystectomy).
That was a year ago. Since then my weight decreased from 190 to under 160 due to diet change & increased exercise. Since my original attack, I have had attacks about every other month (7 attacks), none as severe. My last attack was 3 months ago.
I scheduled surgery for early next month. I’m wondering, however, if there are any scientifically demonstrated alternatives to surgery. I have done research & have read about lithotripsy & actigall:
http://www.lifespan.org/rih/services/surgery/mininvasive/patient/gallstones/lithotripsy.htm
I live in Denver & can’t find any local information. Can’t find who does lithotripsy on gallbladder nearby. GI doctors I called are all booked past surgery date. Can anyone help or provide more info?
lithotripsy or not?
I had a CT scan done on 01/09/08 and they found two stones. One was 5mm and in my upper ureter that i was trying to pass and another 2mm stone in my right upper kidney. In trying to pass the 5mm, I ended up having 2 surgeries secondary to it getting stuck in my lower right ureter. I have had problems with kidney stones since the 8th grade and it runs on both sides of my family. Well, I had an ultrasound on 06/11, and the 2mm stone in right kidney is now 5mm. I talked to my Urologist and asked to have lithotripsy secondary to the problems i had with my last 5mm stone. They do not want to do lithotispy at this time and want me to come back in to their office for another CT in 6 months. I do have scar tissue in my right ureter secondary to many stone passings. I have two fears 1 the stone will continue to grow and will be harder to pass and do lithotripsy. 2 that it will start to pass and I will end up having surgery like last time. Should i continue to insist on lithotripsy?
Pain from Kidney stones advice please?
I have multiple kidney stones, though most are small.. the largest is 4.9mm, but I am having bad pains. The doctor told me the pain is not from the kidney stones since they are located in the kidneys and not lodged anywhere. Is this true? I am not buying it!
I had a kidney stone in 2004 which was much bigger and the pain feels the same.
Also I have a 1mm filling defect in the proximal left ureter at about the L3-L4 level. I bet I can point exactly where it is.. because I have hella pain on my left lower side.
What is a filling defect?
Thanks in Advance!!
Cinn =)
(((Wayf)))) thanks and yes I am trying to research and they do hurt like a mother
great to see you!
Thanks Lucy
(((Unkie)))) yes they did the exploratory thing on 4/22 and then he told me it was not urinary tract related and that I had passed the stone. (which is BS.. I know what it feels like to pass stones or partial stones after lithotripsy and you can definitely feel it) So I found a new dr and he did an IVP and now I find I have multiple stone, but this dude is telling me they cannot hurt if they are in the kidneys. I don’t believe him at all since Ive been through this in 2004.
Thanks I will write that down and ask that dr or another one about it.
I started passing stone fragments a month ago but then they stopped passing.
Have a Lithotripsy set for the 23rd and would like to pass stone before then.
any ideas?

After a Lithotripsy…?
Are you supposed to see or feel any stones pass? I haven’t and worry the Lithotripsy did nothing for me.
btw, I had a Lithotripsy done to break up a Kidney stone in my kidney.
Had lithotripsy done?
I just hade a lithotripsy done and the first time I peed, I saw blood in the urine. I was told that this is normal. I’m just wondering for how long I’m expected to see blood ine urine before it becomes serious?
Is it dangerous for me to get pregnant soon?
I just had a 7mm kidney stone and a Lithotripsy done, but am thinking of getting pregnant sometime this year. I worry about having another Kidney stone WHILE PREGNANT. I don’t know how often kidney stones return. I read 40% chance they return every two years, but so scared about what I’d do if I had one while pregnant. Is it dangerous for me to get pregnant this year?
