I had a baby 6 months ago. During my pregnancy I had several kidney stones and was told that my kidneys were a little smaller than they should be. I had a stent put in and later had lithotripsy and have not had any problems since. Any ideas why it might be elevated?
The Creatinine clearance level was 133. Values should have been under 128.
Thanks for the info. My dr is out of town but his nurse is scheduling me an appt with a nephrologist.
Can a small Kidney stone cause pain?
About a month ago they found calcium in my urine. Then on the 10th they found a small amount of blood. Yesterday they found a small amount of blood. Then tonight I wen to the ER for back pain I have been having for the past 3-5 days in the kidney region, mostly on the "right" side. The doctor told me that it didn’t sound like pain from a kidney stone, but said he has been wrong before. He mentioned I have chronic back pain, then sent me for a CAT scan of my kidneys.
The Tech found 1 small stone in my "right" kidney and a small amount of blood in my urine, 3-5 something per something, I don’t remember exactly. He says it is nothing to worry about because it is so small. The nurse told me if my urine gets darker or the pain gets worse to come back in.
Last October I had what I thought was a flu, due to back pain and a fever. It turned out to be a 6mm kidney stone stuck in my ureter that blocked off my left kidney filling it with puss. The infection then spread to my blood stream (ecoli). I am now scared to death of kidney stones. Three days into my 6 day stay in the hospital, the doctor came in and told me "you know, when you first came in here you were dying"
I am 28 years old.
Should I be concerned??? What should I do??? My back is so sore. I have other problems if you want to read my other questions.
I am just so afraid it will grow and block me up again. Two of my kids birthdays are in October, I missed them both last year, ER on 1, admitted on the other. Then on my wedding anniversary, same month, I had a lithrotripsy. I don’t want to repeat that.
I have had 4 vaginal births, so my pain tolerance is up there. But I also have fibromyalgia, so everything hurts.
Help, what should I do?
also have a uterine prolapse, cystocele and rectocele. Is this related?
By are they related, I mean are these problems causing the kidney stones because of the inability to empty bladder or something???
With my last kidney stone and infection, I had a stent implanted before my lithrotripsy. I don’t know the size of the stone. All he said was small. The doctor said he didn’t see it just the tech or something to that effect. He didn’t seem to take me too seriously though. Attributing my pain to chronic back pain and telling me it didn’t sound like a kidney stone. He only did the CAT scan to rule it out. I don’t think he expected to see anything, nor do I think he even really looked. It was just the way he acted.
My take home paperwork didn’t even say Kidney Stone, it said, lower back pain. No hematuria, No Kidney stone, yet he tols me both were wrong.
I think having the diagnosis fibromyalgia on your recors is more of a curse. They just don’t take you seriously.
Not sure what to do about the symptoms I am having? Kidney pain, fatigue, urination urgency…?
About a month ago I was having sharp pains in my kidneys, the right one mostly, and frequent urination. I went to the doctor and they said I had a uti and gave me bactrim and it cleared up. As soon as I was done with the antibiotics the symptoms came back. I lived with it for another week or so, then the kidney pain became severe. I went to the er where they perfomed blood and urine tests, a doctor examined me and they also gave me a CT scan and could find nothing wrong. They said I had no stones or infection, offered me painkillers, which I declined, and sent me home. I have been to two doctors, urgent care, and the ER and I am really at a loss of where to turn next. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? The symptoms are not as severe as they once were, but still are there, also I have been feeling a great amount of fatigue. I am on 3 medications… Zoloft, klonopin (only as needed I rarely take it) those are for anxiety. And I was on Adipex, but stopped taking it two days ago because it seems that all of this started a few weeks after I began taking it and I don’t like how it makes me feel. Are any of these meds related to kidney problems that anyone knows of? All of the doctors I saw were aware of the meds I am on and didn’t say anything, but I am running out of places to turn. Help Please!!!
Is it possible I have a kidney infection or kidney stone?
I went to the ER a few days ago because I was puking because my lower back hurt so bad. I ended up sitting there for 3 hours and they still didn’t see me, and by then the pain had dulled so I just went home. Now I go to the bathroom more frequently, ‘down there’ really hurts, like there’s pressure on it, and I have no energy. Is there something wrong with my kidneys?
When I take Amoxicillan I feel like i get a Urinary tract infection?
I took one single dose of amoxicillan and i got the horrible pressure, burning feeling like i gotta go right in my bladder. Its awful what causes this? Cranberry juice does nothing AZO makes my kidneys hurt when i got to the doctor they say no infection? Please help?
I had an ultrasound Tuesday and I got no results (from the doctor) back yet. The technician doing the ultrasound says that she didnt see kidney stones.
I have kidney pain, no stones. My wbc is 18.2, monocytes abs 1.8, neutrophils 85, and neutrophils abs 13.7 why?
I’ve had kidney stones since I was 13 due to a side affect of topamax that peppered both kidneys. As of 2 years ago I had stent surgery in right kidney. Nothing but problems with that. But for a year I’ve been stone free. But I just had this right kidney pain, got cat scans and no stones. But my wbc is 18.2, monocytes abs 1.8, neutrophils 85, and neutrophils abs 13.7.
Can you tell me why?
Kidney stones and 7 weeks pregnant?
I am seven weeks pregnant with kidney stones in both kidneys. (multiple stones). Its been two weeks and ive felt a stone down in my right ureter that just doesnt seem to be going anywhere. I just want them to pass. Has anyone experienced a kidney stone during pregnancy and what’s the longest you’ve carried the stone before passing it. Two weeks seems like a long time. Also if down the line i have to have a stent put in, are stones able to pass while you have the stent in? I have so many unanswered questions and im only in the first trimester of my pregnancy. Please help!!!!!
Could I have a kidney stone?
About three weeks ago I had a very sharp and sudden pain in my back on the right side. It continued, infrequently for the next couple of days. I also began to experience symptoms of a bladder infection so I went to the doctor and told them all of my symptoms and they tested my urine and said I had a bladder infectoin and gave me Bactrim to take for 5 days. They said nothing about my kidneys. I finished my antibiotics yesterday and was feeling okay. Today I have been getting sharp pains in my back again, I have no fever, and no UTI symptoms, so I don’t think its an infection, could it be a stone? If so should I go to the ER or wait for a doctor’s appt?
Kidney Disease of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease?
I was in the ER twice in the last week, first they diagnosed me with a kidney infection and put me on antibiotics… that did NOTHING and I was in so much pain in my back and side that I wanted to fall over and die… The second time I went back they diagnosed me with pelvic inflammatory disease, the pain has gone away but I still have some symptoms that haven’t. AND I don’t think have anything do to with PID:
Itching beyond belife (bug bite like things all over me)
Stop and go peeing, cloudy urine, takes me about 10 minutes to start peeing.
I am severely bloated
And the classic sign, I have this metal taste in my mouth, (also i kinda smell metal sometimes I don’t know if that is a normal part)
They did do an ultra sound of my kidneys and they said no stones and no swelling… could I still have something wrong? Because I don’t think all these things go with PID
Also I am cold all the time, and I am dizzy!
kidney stone question?

What kinds of kidney diseases are associated with family history?
When I was recently having an ultrasound scan done of my bladder and kidneys, the doctor doing it took a little while looking at my bladder, a little while on my left kidney, then a long time on my right kidney. After looking at the right kidney for some time, he paused and asked whether i have any family history of problems with the kidney, I replied that someone may have had stones at some point but i’m not entirely sure, and he just went quiet which made me think he’s not talking about stones, then he continued looking at the kidney some more.

how do you strengthen your kidneys?
After you’ve had kidney stones what steps can you take to prevent them returning? What are some good things to eat to help your kidneys?
Do I have just 1 Kidney functioning..?
About an year ago, I came to know that I have stones of few millimeters in both of my kidneys. I took medicines, and after nearly 6 months ultrasound showed that, my one kidney was free of stones. But the other one still had few. Now, from a month, I am having wetty stools. One of my friend suggested that may be my 1 kidney has failed that’s why I am so much watery content in my excretion.
So, I just want to know that what are the symptoms if only 1 kidney fails…?
Have any of you had a lithotripsy?
My boyfriend has kidneys full of stones and has been recommended for a lithotripsy, however, he has a lot of other medical issues – he has Cystic Fibrosis – and we are nervous about the side effects: among his issues he has had pulmonary hypertension in the past and we dont want to risk hypertension or renal failure. But passing stones is terrible for him too and we dont know what to do.
So, are there any healthcare providers out there who would like to weigh in? Also, I’d love to hear back from someone who has had a lithotripsy about their experience.
As a side note – we cant modify his diet to avoid stones, its too important to keep his diet up to deal with his CF

Contractions vs. Kidney stones?
so i keep hearing that labor contractions r usually this annoying pain in the lower back, but i’ve had kidney stones for years now, the first time i ended up in the hospital bc one got stuck on the way out, and the pain was horrible, although over the years i’ve gotten used to the pain of the kidneys hurting while passing a stone, and someone told me that she had kidney stones too and she told me if i’ve went through that pain, that labor will be nothing comparing to that.
so, from ur personal exp. if u’ve given birth and have had kidney stones before, was it similar? or which one hurt more?
What are the symptoms of a Kidney stone?
I have a lower back ache, someone said it could be my kidneys but i don’t know if it’s just a back ache. I just had a Urinary tract infection that I treated with Amoxicillan
Lab is sick – my friend needs help!?
My friend has an outside lab that hasn’t been eating for the past two days and is taking in very little water. She’s planning on giving him a boost of B12, which will hopefully help his appetite, and I recommended that she smear some peanut butter on his gums for protein and hopefully it’ll encourage him to drink more. He hasn’t passed anything through his system and doesn’t act sore – his temperature is at a low 99. She says the only thing off is his diet and the fact that when he urinates, it comes out in short bursts, making us think there could be something wrong with his kidneys or urinary tract. We’ve ruled out any tract infection, which would cause him to have a temperature, so I wonder if it’s possible for male dogs to pass kidney stones, or if maybe there could be some prostate swelling.
Or anything else. Ideas, please, on how to get him in better health.
First off, don’t tell us that we need to take him to the vet or how he should be supervised. The dog has been in a closed off area of 3 acres for all his life and it’s almost certain that he hasn’t been into something, as it’s THEIR BACKYARD. Human medication, you say? Well I didn’t ask if B12 was okay to give, BECAUSE I ALREADY KNOW IT IS.
A urinary tract infection, or ANY infection, is indication of a fever. He isn’t running one. THAT’S how we know. I hate using this community for answers and only do so in emergencies because you people are ass holes and are extremely repetitive.
Not everyone has the money to run their dog to the vet over every little thing, especially when things are like they are for the economy. Some things have to be put before others in times like this, and a dog isn’t one of the main priorities, especially if there’s hope that it can be fixed at home.
So any advice that isn’t the OBVIOUS, please.
My doctor says it's the baby on a nerve… but…?
I’ve been having sever back pain in my right side, obviously near my spine, but I can feel it more inside my back, and a little more to the right than my spine.
It’s always hurting, constantly, and it spikes and worsens if I put my weight on my right leg, if I pivot on my right side, or if I just try to say, recline a chair all the way back, the force I have to put on my back hurts.
I know this pain isn’t normal, but I am having a difficult pregnancy, my uterus is tilted forward and I’ve had a few problems with kidney stones, I personally think that it might be a kidney stone stuck between my kidney and my bladder because the pain feels like it’s a stabbing, ripping pain, instead of a tingle or shock.
My doctor says it’s the baby on a nerve, if it is, shouldn’t the baby moving certain ways spike the pain? And if it IS in fact the baby on a nerve, does anyone know of a certain way I might be able to make her move off of it?
I’m not due for another two months but I can NOT wait out this pain. I just can’t. I can’t sit up straight because of it, but I can’t slouch to put the pressure of my spine because then my ribs push on my uterus, which hurts more because it’s tilted forward [very uncommon and unnaturally painful in itself].
If it’s a KIDNEY STONE, like I think it is, does anyone know of any remedies that may help it dissolve or break down, maybe even break all together so that I can just pass it, or at least get it small enough to move so it’s not so painful?
It’s been this same pain since the last time I went to the hospital for a kidney stone, which unbroken, would have measured almost a half a centimeter across. [Yes, they're that bad]
My doctor didn’t take into account my issues with kidney stones, whereas my specialist did, and he’s been having me drink pure lemon juice.
Since then it’s helped, but no where near enough, all it did was make it so I wasn’t bed ridden anymore.
My doctors don’t want me drinking too much water and flushing my kidneys. My body tensing from the pain from passing the last one almost put me into labor. Which is why I’m looking to just break it down best I can if at all possible.
And Tylenol doesn’t help at ALL.
The only thing that’s help was a prescription of lortabs, that I stopped taking after a few days because I don’t want to harm my baby.
Pain in the Left and Right Kidneys and Shoulder blades… Please help!
I am a 24 year old female. Since beginning of July I’ve been having pains in my LEFT kidney. It was nothing terrible just a faint numbness. I just rubbed it and slept on my right side and it would usually go away. A week ago the pain in my LEFT kidney radiates to my LEFT shoulder blade and the faint pain stays there. Plus the pain got worse. Yesterday I got a pain on my RIGHT ovary… that pain for the most part went away. TODAY I have pain on my RIGHT kidney and the pain radiates to my RIGHT shoulder blade. NOW both sides are hurting. It’s a faint numbness that gets to a sharp pain for a few seconds. If I take a deep breath I feel the pain in my back. Today I am also getting acid reflux with it. FYI my pee is normal. I’m going to the doctor tomorrow but people are telling me it’s my kidneys, gallbladder, stones, ovary infection, mini heart attacks or just bad gas. What do I believe??? I know I will get an answer tomorrow but I’m scared as hell now and want a better educated idea on what might be going wrong here. I take vitamins every morning, drink lots of water, and don’t have a bad diet (I’ve actually lost a lot of weight recently). Please help!
possible kidney stones?
for over 3 years now I have been passing alot of blood and protein in my urine. I’ve been to the er and urologist and my bladder is fine and no sight of kidney stones. for the past couple of weeks ive been extremely exhausted urninating a lot and have horrible pain in both of my kidneys. i have an appointment with a specialist but not for another week. anyone here pass a kidney stone and do my symptoms match?
Extreme fatigue, thirst, kidney pain…?
I have a history of kidney stones and as of now the docs say that both of my kidneys are full of stones and cysts… I have been having pain that is not unbearable but its very often coming and going. But I am just so exhausted… the exhaustion is far worse than the pain. I am also so thirsty that it’s irritating. Are the exhaustion and thirst related to the kidney pain? I am so tired of feeling awful :/
Im 31 weeks pregnant and have been to the doc a couple times about a month ago for severe upper back pain, they did a sonogram and found nothing. Im tired of people telling me it’s just because I’m pregnant. I finally found out it was most likely due to my gall bladder and my diet. But now I’m having pains right where my kidneys are. And urgency to urinate, and pain and trouble doing it when I do so the doc gave me some antibiotics. Now I’m passing kidney stones and still having kidney and abdominal pains. Should I call and tell my doc i’m passing kidney stones? I mean that means the pains about over right? and theres nothing they can do? I don’t want to sound like a big baby calling and complaining about more back pain. But its quite uncomfortable and painful.
Is this bladder infection or kidney stones?
Example of symptoms: Feel like I need the loo all the time, but know when I gotta go empty. Start urinating fine but as soon as stop after few seconds I get this stabbing pain that makes me lean forward to try and ease it. After this the pain continues and I still feel like my bladder isn’t emptied. It is impossible to get anymore out instead the urine turns to blood and drips out causing even more pain. After all this I have pains and feel like going to the toilet non stop.
I have the strongest pain killers possible and they arn’t working and neither are the anti-biotics prescribed. The doctor said it’s probably a Bladder infection as my kidneys wern’t sore but I’m worried that the pain killers arn’t working and neither are the anti-biotics. The urine samples show I have an infection, but could all these symptoms be Kidney stones?
I’m 14 years old
Also hurts as I pee, burning sensation then a stabing one when I finish.
Kidney stones while pregnant?
Im 31 weeks pregnant and have been to the doc a couple times about a month ago for severe upper back pain, they did a sonogram and found nothing.
