Hello, I have been having a TREMENDOUS pain on my left side for 3 weeks now. I do not have insurance so i tried to avoid going to the doctor and since I passed 2 kidney stones back in 98, I figured this one is kidney stones as well (similar pain and locations). I could not bare the pain anymore and headed to a cheap doctor who knew less than I do about kidney stones and simply prescribed me the medicine I recommended to him…What a joke. Anyway, thanks to the internet, i told the doctor to give me flomax and he did. My pain would go away during the day a few days before i started my medication and it would come back at night and early morning, VERY BAD. Ever since i started to take the flomax, I have no kidney stone pain or symptoms. What the heck? While it feels amazing, at the same time it scares me. What is it going on guys? Any ideas?

Doctor also gave me pain medication (oxycodone) and I took only one 3 days ago (the day i got it).

Do you think flomax relaxed my ureter and the stone is no longer pressuring and urine is passing through and that is why it is not hurting anymore? I definitely havent passed the stone..
I will go get ultrasound done sometime soon, but I am just curious what is going on. If any doctors on this site have any ideas and would like to share them. Flomax took the pain away.. hmm…
I am feeling 100% normal, I have no symptoms of anything. I was advised to take the medication for a couple weeks or three and then go get ultrasound to find out the size of the stone. I am assuming this is a stone because it feels like it did last time. What else could be? PLEASE do not tell me to go to doctor and leave at that. I am very well aware of it and I have and I will again if nothing changes.

I’m a 20 year old female with very minor health issues in my past besides kidney stones. Lately, I’ve been having ALOT of discomfort in my left shoulder, neck, and arm. It’s kind of like it’s tingling but it also feels like something has been pulling all the way from my neck down to my fingers. It’s starting to make my chest hurt and taking deep breaths hurt as well. I can’t sleep on that side at all. Part of me thinks it is where i’m cutting wisdom teeth on that side or that I might have a deep ear infection. Anyways, I’m just curious, can’t go to the doctor until I get insurance in 2 months so just wondering if this could be the start of something serious or if it’s something minor or for that matter, growing pains or stress. Last night I had to take a one of my boyfriend’s muscle relaxers so just I could get a little sleep. I’ve been putting Icy-Hot on it just as some temporary relief, but it’s not really doing the trick. Just give me some feedback, any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I took my cat to a vet who is supposed to be really good because my cat was passing kidney stones and a crystal had passed through his bladder and was stuck in the urethra. The vet put a catheter through and had to flush out his whole system because my cat was in REALLY bad shape.]: So i got my cat back on the 23rd and have been giving him antibiotics the doctor gave me every 12 hours. Now my cat is going back to his painful lethargic state he was in BEFORE we ever took him in the first place! We payed OVER 1,300 dollars which we really don’t have right now (we don’t have animal insurance either). So we called to the vet again to tell them how he is in pain again and really lethargic etc. and they said theres really nothing they can do about it. I know for a fact that is BULL SHIT because this kind of thing happens to humans all the time. I have family in the medical fields nurses, surgical technologists etc and i know that when this happens to a human they don’t just let people die. I understand people are different but they take care of it and they don’t go back to the same conditions 3 days later. Most wouldn’t understand but my two cats are my favorite things in the whole world and i have the strongest love for them I couldn’t bare to let one go. Please I need some help on what to do and why his first treatment of being in the hospital for FOUR days didn’t work. Please help.

Also they said he is NOT supposed to be lethargic really at all anymore. I have him on a special diet he needs to be on for at least 3 years. And is there nothing I can do since he was not treated properly? I cant pay another 1400 dollars but I will try payment plans. Why is it they say there is nothing they can do?

We live in Hawaii. My husband was seen at the ER August 14th because he couldnt urinate or pass bowels. They did bloodwork on him & gave him pain meds, was going to send him home. When I inquired about the cause, he told us that "if you want, I can send you to the other ER & they can do a CT scan, but you’re going to have to wait long time".

At the 2nd ER, the dr examined my husbands penis & balls. He told us all the bloodwork came back normal & was about to send us home. I insisted that we came there for a CT scan. SO, they finally gave him a CT scan & found a kidney stone & a what appears to be a rectal mass. The dr & nurse explained that sometimes stuff shows up on a CT scan that isnt actually there so he could have cancer, but it could be nothing,& make sure he follows up w/his regular dr & see a specialist. After we informed the dr that my husband didnt have a regular dr established, he recommended us to a dr, who we thought was going to be a specialist. When we called to get an appointment, we discovered that it was an internal medicine dr & to see him, we would have to change our PCP to that dr who is 25 miles away from us. So since that dr wasnt a specialist, we opted to see a PCP that is closer to us, so that whenever my husband needed to see the PCP, it was close (we have QUEST HMSA medical insurance & no cash since my husband is out of work).

We went to Waianae Coast Comprehensive Center & seen DR. LIAO. Worst experience EVER. We could barely understand anything he said when he asked us what ER we went to & what he was seeing my husband for, told my husband he had to lotion & lose weight, then without looking at his paperwork from the ER that I gave him, he left the room. Then the nurse came in & told us to come back in a month for recheck. When I asked the nurse why in one month, she said for recheck. I told her the dr didnt look at his paperwork & explained my husband was in alot of pain & needed to see the specialist right away. She asked me what type of insurance we had & when I told her Quest, she made a face and told me thats why we had to wait a long time. SO naturally my voice raised when I insisted they refer my husband to a specialist immediately & thats when the dr started yelling at us from another examining room to go see another Dr if you dont like it!

We then had to find another PCP. He referred us out to a specialist. We drove there & my husband said that the specialist came in & told my husband that our dr referred him to the wrong specialist, & wrote down information for the urologist. He did not even look at the image of the CT scan or examine my husband. 3 days later, my husband passed a BM with lots of bright red blood. I took him to his Dr & he immediately send us to the emergency room (another different one, not the 1st 2 that we went to). At the emergency room, they gave him pain medication, took a urine sample, & informed us that there was nothing about a rectal mass in my husbands record from the ER. They gave him instructions to follow up w/his PCP & the urologist for his kidney stones and did not examine him or get a sample of his stool. When I asked about what we should do about the rectal mass, they said I dont know. Its weird and confusing because it doesnt say anything about a rectal mass in his report. BUT HE HAS BLOOD IN HIS STOOL! We were then told it could just be from a hemmoroid. Physically & emotionally exhausted & defeated, we went home.

We went back to my husbands PCP the next morning & explained everything that happened w/the specialist & the ER, & the Dr shook his head & then told us to follow up w/the urologist & see if the urologist. When I asked about the rectal mass, they said the urologist can help us because shes a urologist.

I called the ER that told us about the rectal mass & explained everything and they said they cant discuss anything over the phone, but EVERYTHING should be in the report. They wouldnt let me talk to the dr because they said that he couldnt discuss patient info over the phone. They wouldnt tell me his schedule either. I called our medical insurance & they told me to follow up w/the PCP or change PCPs or get a 2nd opinion. We did but because the possible rectal mass is not noted in the report, no one has examined him.

My husbands TDI is pending & no savings. I need to complete a 3 wk class in order to get assistance. BUT I have no cash, bus pass, or gas or family to help. I called the welfare worker & explained our situation & she said there is no way around it, I have to comply w/the class 1st. So I have no childcare & no $ or transportation. We used the pay from my husbands last check to pay our rent & put gas in the car. Now its gone. My phones going to get turned off soon along w/my internet. So then, I wont even be able to call or email!

I dont know what to do about anything. Any positive, educational answers would be greatly appreciated. Please no personal rude comments. I have enough

I had a severe pain in the location in the picture. It was a severe sharp [lasted 2 seconds or less marked BLACK] Could this have been a Kidney Stone or what? I’m really worried as I’ve been having nausea, abdominal pain, headaches marked RED symptoms of something which I thought to have been Indigestion lasting over a couple of weeks. I’ve been to the MEC and the E.R. [they took my blood and did a physical on me] but I still think it’s something urgent. My parents have given up on me and think i’m just freaking out over nothing because it costs them money EVEN THOUGH we have health insurance. Is this something I should worry about? I’m a healthy individual and just stopped smoking cigarettes about 9 days ago and haven’t used alcohol for about 3 weeks.

about 3 weeks ago i started having a uti and i took antibiotics and drank alot of water and cranberry juice and it went away within 2 day. the problem is that it keeps coming back within the same month. i cant handle it any more and i do not want to go to the doctor because i do not have medical insurance. is there an effective home remedy that i can perform that will aid and cure my urinary tract infection. . . i am desperate!!!!!!

On March 3rd of this year, my girlfriend had a 2nd trimester abortion. On that same day, after the abortion.the doctor inserted the Implanon. We didn’t have sex until 1 1/2 months later. I am 22 years old, going on 23 in October. She is 19, going on 20 next March.

Now, here’s the thing. Ever since my girlfriend had the Implanon inserted in March, she hasn’t had a single real period. About a month ago, she said she all of a sudden bled in her panties. Also, she got an occasional spotting a few weeks ago, but nothing serious. She also said she had brown discharge some week as well. I’m not sure.

But anyway, ever since she got the Implanon in March, she never stops eating. I’m so concerned for her health. She was already considered very overweight/obese, but now she has gained at least 15 pounds. She said she lost 4 pounds last week, but she told me the Implanon causes bloating, and she has a family history of bloating as well. Her mother looks like she is pregnant half the time.

Well here is my dilemma: she refuses for me to wear condoms and take pregnancy tests. We hardly have sex anymore. Maybe twice a week we do it. Anyway, that doesn’t matter. I hardly ever cum in her. I usually pull out. Sometimes I don’t. I noticed significant weight gain after only a month on the Implanon. It looked like she gained 20 pounds in the first month! I remember when she was pregnant, she never had any symptoms, or even ate as much as she does now. I know she is upset about the abortion still, but she just never quits eating.

She has also been experiencing bad pelvic/side/back pains/headaches/sharp pains in stomach/YOU NAME IT!, and sometimes it hurts during sex. It seems like her health problems never end. She has no health insurance and we live with her mother. Our money situation is awful. She is still in high school as well, so it’s hard for her to get a job. Many jobs she applied to denied her because she doesn’t have a high school diploma. She says she wants to call the doctor to get the Implanon removed, but she never gets around to it. I’M VERY WORRIED ABOUT HER. I don’t know what to do right now. I love her to death, but I can’t drag her to a doctor. She is so keen on thinking she isn’t pregnant because the doctors told her that it is nearly impossible to get pregnant on Implanon.

I was thinking the pains she was experiencing were kidney stones. Her mother just had laser surgery for kidney stones, so it does run in her family.

I just don’t know what to do anymore. She says if she fell pregnant, I wouldn’t have to worry about it, but how can I not? What is wrong with her? What should I do?

I was in the ER 12 days ago and the stone was high in the ureter, now it has moved all the way down to the urethra and it is attempting to get out or is stuck, I dont know. What I do know is the pain is almost unbearable and I am taking a strong narcotic along with a medicine for nausea. I have seen a urologist, but I have no health insurance so we are trying to manage with pain meds and lots of water, the alternative is surgery, a huge hospital bill and physician bill. I just dont know how much longer i can take this pain…does anyone have ANY suggestions, or is surgery my only alternative at this point?

I know the actual virus can be passed on since its contagious, but is there bacteria that could be passed on?

My boyfriend knows about me having type 2 H. I took medication to control my 1st outbreak last month. I have only given him oral and he has used a toy on me but he washed his hands RIGHT after. during that time i had no signs of an outbreak and we have never had sex after i found out.

Anywho… 2 days ago he has had symtoms of what seems to be kidney stones, which i read from webmd. No sores or blisters just a walnut sized lump above his groin below his waste. He said its hurt to the touch. And it painful to urinate.although there are no sores present. He went to the emergency room today and he told me the doctor said he has herpes bacteria on his penis. I’ve heard of passing the virus but not bacteria…and ive never heard of those type of symptoms being herpes. I am very confused and very worried. He cant go back and forth to the doctor because he has no health insurance. so if anyone could help me or give me some information on this would be very greatful.

I’m on Blue Cross/Blue Shield (nearly 5 a month just for myself) and my husband receives Cherokee Nation benefits (free).

He gets better health care than I do (this includes a ,000 lithotripsy in 2005 which was all paid for by the Cherokee Nation, as well as ongoing care for a chronic dental issue and cholesterol … his dental issue and cholesterol are under control). If he was still on my private insurance (it would cost 0 a month additional to add him), he would still be having kidney stones, high cholesterol, and his dental issue. On my private insurance, I can only afford one endoscopy a year (I have a precancerous condition in my throat).

I’m in the process of finding out if anyone in my family was on the Dawes roll, because private insurance sucks.

My husband is on Social Security Disability for a refractory seizure disorder. He receives free medical care and medicine through the Cherokee Nation (he is a Cherokee citizen). He is on the hospital portion of Medicare. He receives better care through the Cherokee Nation (example: ,000 lithotripsy all paid for through the Cherokee Nation, among lots of other things) than he ever did when he was under my private insurance which costs 0 a month addition to cover just him.

Will this new health care reform (if it passes) affect him in any way? Will he be required to purchase insurance? (My point is this would be counterproductive since he already receives free medical care anyway.)

i notice the past 1 or 2 weeks that i been urinating alot i mean atleast every 5 minutes and with a urge.also i was noticing i would get alot of air in my bladder and with light stabbing pains in my vagina up to my bladder sometimes even up to my navel if i pressed on it omg the pain!. but now since thursday i have experienced these symptoms(serve nausea,cloudy urine,horrific stabbing pains in my lower back and abdominal) last night i got this episode that lasted for about 1hour with stabbing pains in my stomach and lower back, as of right now my stomach just feels bloated and feels like it has pressure with some light sharp pains all over and of course i have to urinate again after i did 6 minute ago. i don’t have diabetes i know for a fact. i might have lupus or thyroid if that helps. i don’t have insurance to see a doctor so whats going on?? what should i do??

I am one of the unlucky few that suffers from very painful gallstone attacks quite frequently, and with lacking insurance and not having a very large income, I am unable to afford the removal surgery.

I’ve read lots of various things that state ways one can naturally get rid of gall stones, but I’m wondering if any of you have tried them, what worked for you? I’d love to find something I can do every few months to flush them out of my system till I am able to obtain insurance and have it the required length of time to qualify for surgery.

I am positive I have a kidney stone at this point. I went onto WebMD and all the symptoms and stuff matched plus my father had surgery for kidney stones when he was around my age as well. I just have a question.. How much does it cost to get tested? I dont have insurance for small things like this, only catastrophe insurance that covers me if I have to do surgery or something that costs over 5000$. I know they will want to do an x-ray and IVP tests and all that but I’m wondering how much all of this will cost including medication? Thanks

I recently went for my annual pap, my urine sample showed a trace of blood. They sent me to a Urologist for further testing. When the Urologist did a urine sample, blood was present at a level 1 (4 being the worst). I was sent to the hospital for an x-ray to see if it’s a kidney stone, nothing showed. He "felt around" and didn’t find any lumps, says he doesn’t think it’s any kind of growth because I’m 29 and a non-smoker. Now he wants to run another test, which involves running a tube up to my bladder to see if anything is going on. My only symptom is that a urinate a little more frequently than usual. The problem is I don’t have any insurance, and these office visits and tests are ridiculous costs. What should I do, keep going or just forget it? Any kinds of natural cures for clearing out your urine stream?

I had severe back pain for over a week. My insides feel like someone is ripping them out. I have a weird pain in my lower right back that feels like its too far right to be part of my back bones. I have had a kidney stone before but it didnt really feel like this. I woke up with a sharp pain in the same region a few days and thought it was a kidney stone, but it subsided(unlike my first kidney stone that took me to my knees). I went to the doc and they tested my pee and said everything is fine. A day later and it is starting to really bug me. I Really notice the pain when i lay down to sleep, and have to wake up every 1-4 hours to urinate. I could sleep all through the day if I didnt pull myself out of bed and I am sometimes dizzy feeling. It sort of feels like it could be a little kidney stone working through but i dont know? Also sometimes my left side will hurt too and feel like a cool sensation inside. Am I dealing with a Kidney stone/s, infection, or something else??? I know I should go back to doc but i dont have insurance and im sure they will want to do x ray for K.stones, but what do u guys think???

I’m Stressed im sick and im feeling overwhelmed everything just happened at once. I have a kidney stone which started it all now its uncomfortable to pee. not only that i have hemmorrhoids and i think i caught the flu im 20 years old and i feel like my body is falling apart. anyways so my symptoms include heartburn my taste buds are all messed up i cant taste anything but i can feel the burn from the spice or know when its sweet even coffee tastes like water. I was recently told by the emergency room that I have stones in my gallbladder… I have been having chest pains on my left side of my chest were my heart is at… but the doctors told me my heart was fine. could my gallbladder cause pains in my chest on the left hand side?
