I’m 17 years old and i just found out that i have Gall stones. I’ve had 3 total Gall bladder attacks.the 1st one lasted an hour and a half, and the other 2 were only 45 mins each. its not that serious. and well i HATE doctors/hospitals/nurses and the sort and i DO NOT want/need surgery. they said its NOT severe, so what should i do? is there any other teens out there with the same problem? I mean i REALLY dont want to even go back to the hospital at all. Is there any other solutions anyone can come up with?

Kidney and gall bladder problems run in my family (specifically in the women). My mom was recently diagnosed with a kidney infection and was told she has gall bladder stones. She’s so sick she has been on bed rest for a month.

Only a few months ago my grandmother was also in the hospital being treated for both (she had surgery to remove the stones).

Although genetically unrelated to me, my father-in-law passed away 8 years ago from kidney failure, so needless to say it’s a serious problem that’s been on my mind…especially when I think of the risk my children may be at, having a history on both sides.

I’m still pretty young (28) and in good health, but are there any steps that I can take now to try and prevent myself from having these health problems in the future?

I am on protonix and still having pain in the abdomen regiion and extreme sensitivity over the liver gall bladder area, and none over the stomach. My mother was telling me she had similar expereinces for years and thought it was just reflux, but was infact gall stones. Someone with experience and more details — please respond. Thanks!

Also, if you do have some info, can you provide ways of figuring it out, and any alternative/complementary things to save your gallbladder — if this is it…
By the way – I am currently taking collestrum organic -5 g.daily with powdered probiotic. This instantly cures any GERD symptoms – but have too keep taking it. I did the Hulda Clark Gall bladder flush protocol last year, and did pass, the green pea shaped things.
I have also done ultra simple diet, and have a slew of medical foods and other products.
All of your answers are really wonderful and I expecially appreciate the bicarboonate recommendation.
I do take cell salts, but will introduce some of the bicarb products. I actually purchased potassium bicarb from a beer making store, as I read somewhere that it was really important with stomach issues. JusI have a clean diet. Mainly whole foods, and i also eat a whole foods a lot. Been moving to a blander diet, and less food combinations. Gluten free, etc… Also, had major breathing problems/ anaphalaxis which went immediately away with the protonix..II can actually feel the gall bladder/liver area spasm. So, I’ll be doing mor

Im 31 weeks pregnant and have been to the doc a couple times about a month ago for severe upper back pain, they did a sonogram and found nothing. Im tired of people telling me it’s just because I’m pregnant. I finally found out it was most likely due to my gall bladder and my diet. But now I’m having pains right where my kidneys are. And urgency to urinate, and pain and trouble doing it when I do so the doc gave me some antibiotics. Now I’m passing kidney stones and still having kidney and abdominal pains. Should I call and tell my doc i’m passing kidney stones? I mean that means the pains about over right? and theres nothing they can do? I don’t want to sound like a big baby calling and complaining about more back pain. But its quite uncomfortable and painful.

Last night I went to the emergency room because I was in horrible pain, they diagnosed me with gall stones and said I would need surgery. However the surgeon was busy last night saving someone’s life so I was told to call his office on Tuesday and make an appointment for the surgery. I was just wondering if any of you with experience what I should absolutely avoid eating in the mean time? I know that I’m not suppose to have fatty/greasy foods and such, but are there any other less obvious risky foods that I should avoid during the next few days? And what sort of foods would you recommend eating? Right now, I’ve got a bunch of fresh fruit and raw veggies, but I’m trying to find something that would actually be a meal, verses a snack.

Also, for those of you that have had your gall bladder removed, what was your recovery like? I just had a c-section and the recovery sucked.

Thanks so much for all your answers in advance.

My mother has had her gall bladder removed about a month ago, because of the reoccurring stones, and has also had kidney stones in the past. I finally got her to start taking those adult gummy vitamins (better than nothing, cause she hates taking vitamins, makes her sick) now I’m realizing there isn’t any calcium in her diet (nor is there calcium in the regular gummy vitamins), especially at her age (60’s). Can she go ahead and start taking these gummy calcium vitamins with her regular gummy vitamins everyday?

I have had 2 attacks within the last month and had a consultation to talk about surgery to remove my gall bladder. I want to make sure I am making the right decision. Can you eat a low fat diet and control the attacks or do you have to get your gall bladder removed?

I was having a gall bladder attack back in July of 2008 and as a result had several x-rays and ultimately my gall bladder removed.

In April of 2009, I was having some lower back pain and had X-Rays done.

Now in August of 2009 I was diagnosed with a large kidney stone. When I went to the urologist I was referred to, I was told to bring my x-rays and medical records from my initial diagnosis.

When I went to the medical records department, they asked me how far back did I need my films and reports and I told them to go back to July of 2008 when I had my gall bladder attack and subsequent removal.

Imagine my surprise when the Urologist looked at those films from July of 2008 as well as the films from April of 2009 and there was the kidney stone getting bigger and bigger as the three films progresses.

I understand that a radiologist has to review these films and got a bill from them to prove it.

Question is: Is there any liability or negligence on the radiologist who reviewed the films on the prior to occasions who missed the kidney stone. My current surgeon who discovered this stated that there is even some mention in one of the written reports about it but nothing was ever mentioned or told to me.

Who, if anyone, is responsible for this oversight or is it just my tough luck?

Thanks for your help.

I’m 33 weeks pregnant. When I was 25 I had a kidney infection caused by a kidney stone-had to leave the stone in until the infection cleared up. I remember that pain being so bad that I had to wear pants that rested on my hips & not touch my back.

Then I had gall bladder problems from age 31-32…I’d wake up at 3am in horrific pain-would vomit even! I couldn’t even lay down on my right side when I had an attack as the pain was horrific. Finally ended up in ER one morning when I had an attack…couldn’t move & was vomiting horribly & they had to take it out.

So now labor will be approaching in the upcoming weeks…what was worst for you if you had either kidney or gall stones (or both!!)?? I hear that if you did have kidney or gall stone pain that labor is not as bad as the other 2.

Doctor left message today that my nuclear scan was positve for gall bladder disease. My gallbladder x-ray showed an inflammed gall bladder but no stones or anything.

HOWEVER, the only reason any of this was found was the doctor was pressing on my stomach during a physical and the area felt tender to him. Now he’s saying it’s likely it”ll have to come out, yet to this day i have still NEVER had any pain like the websites say I should have and I’ve been eating healthy for months….Why would it have to come out if it still WORKS correctly and hasn’t hurt me at all??

I just feel like he’s…scalpel-happy!!

My sister went in to have her gall bladder removed. The surgeon was amazed at the size of it, it was the largest he’s ever seen, and it had a ton of stones in it. My sister is obese, wieghs about 325 pounds. Would her weight cause this, or would it be something else that caused this?
There is no history in my family for having bad gall bladders and stones.

Patient is female, 70 yrs old, about 4 days ago, had fever, vomited once and complained about stomach pain, sonography revealed small stones in Gall Bladder. this is the first time this has happened. But since that day there are no other symtons or any pain. Is surgery the only solution or these stones can be dissolved by any other means.
