My pain stated early this morning in my lower back. Then it slowly spread towrds my side and then into the front. I don’t have a fever, I am nauseous, I don’t have any appetite. The pain was horrible and constant this morning and now it isn’t that bad at the moment but in kinda comes in waves. Does this sound like a kidney stone? It hurts the most in my lower back

I’m a 52 year old man in what most would think is in very good physical condition. Six months ago I started passing visible blood in my urine. After seeing several doctors the best answer I could get from them was that I was having kidney stones. The urine went from tea colored to the color of cranberry juice. There was never any pain. I’ve had stones in the past and as anyone who has had them before can tell you, the pain they cause is the worst they’ve ever felt.

I discovered that the bleeding was brought on by the use of Advil. I would go weeks with no problems, then take Advil for an unrelated issue. Within three hours I began to see the blood again.
Needless to say, I quit taking Advil, Aspirin or Alieve as the are all NSAIDS and cause bleeding.

Since then, I’ve only had one incidence of visible blood. However, Now I’m experiencing another symptom that has me scared and baffled. I work construction for a living. In the past few weeks my stamina has fallen way off. I become extremely fatigued after only a few hours on the job. After going home my body seems to become one giant nerve to emit pain. I can only compare to the body aches that one feels during the onset of a bad case of the flu. No fever or chills. No joint pain. Just muscle aches. While the urine appears to be of normal color, I wonder if there is something connected here.

Since the doctors have been useless, I am hoping someone here can help give me some answers.

Went to the ER 4 days ago with sudden onset of pain, turns out I had 1 kidney stone on the way out and 6 more in my kidney. I had an IV for fluids, nausea and pain and was sent home with meds for the same. I have been sore but getting better. Today, day 4 I am so nauseated its making me crazy, and that with Zofran (ms).
I know I am at fault, I didn’t make a follow up with my reg doc, 4 kids at home and not feeling good, it just wasn’t on my radar. I call the ER and asked if this was "normal" or if another one may have dislodged and if I should come back in. I was greeted with the ole cautious "we can’t say, we can’t tell you over the phone" arrggg,
Question to you all… do I ER or not ER? I have no fever, dull ache in the opposite side as last time and maximum nausea. I am an Army wife so cost isnt an issue however, as you can tell, I would hate to abuse the ER by "stopping in" because my tummy is upset…

Long story short i had a kidney infection in my right kidney and was put on antibiotics. The kidney pain came back so i got switched to a stronger antibiotic. It cleared everything up and my urine was even clear. I didnt miss a dose but after six days of feeling fine the pain returned in my left kidney. I feel fine otherwise but before pain was the initial symptom and then i got a fever. I got checked for kidney stones last week and i dont have any. What could this be? Is it the infection again?

I’m a single mom alone with my kids and about 30 minutes my back suddenly gave out. I started feeling intense pressure and burning in my mid back area. I went to lay down. I got up to try and see if it would go away and I had to lay on the floor for a few minutes and crawl back to bed. I don’t have a fever but if I move I feel the pain.

I don’t know if I need to call 911 or wait it out. My doctor told me last week I have kidney stones from the ct scan they need but I’ve never experienced any pain from it that I know of. I was just fine this morning.
I paged my doctor and she thought it was a back spasm. She told me to take a muscle relaxer and some Ibuprofen. Thankfully I still had a muscle relaxer. I took a nap and now I am able to at least get up and walk. I still feel sore and pain but nothing like before.

It’s fathers day and my dad is in the hospital with a kidney stone. He’s been there for two nights and he just got a fever last night. Im really concerned and sad. And I don’t know the severity of everything. I hope he is okay. Can fevers, in any way, make kidney stones worse?

A couple of days ago, I was having very bad pains in my back that wrapped around my side. I then threw up and the pain was there all night, could not sleep or get comfortable not matter what I did. Now the pain has pretty much subsided, not vomiting, no fever. But I am seeing blood in my urine. Sometimes its light pink and other times its darker. Is this a sign of kidney stones?

Hello. Im a 23 yr old female, healthy and active. i woke up Saturday morning with my back feeling a little off. Not too bad though. But it was very uncomfortable to walk. Lower back, left side, not right where my kidneys are but lower above the hip. I thought maybe it was from wearing heels, i always wear them so i dont know. So the next day on Sunday (yesterday) it was way better, i didnt feel a thing, BUT i did wake up feeling achy all over, my body, my legs, my arms, my thighs, even the muscles in my tummy, like my abs, almost as if i went to wrk out the night before which i didnt, i felt all sore. Dont know if i was getting a fever or not, So sunday night last night the aches pretty much were gone, but the lower back discomfort started coming back. I went to sleep, this morning i woke up fine, i work in a office sitting in a cubicle all day, ive never had back problems before in my life. But since this morning its getting worse. Its a sharp shooting pain, almost like someone is pressing down or against my back, feels like the pain is radiating down to my buttocks even down my thighs at times. sometimes i feel okay, the discomfort is still there but all of a sudden sharp shooting pain on my left side lower back. I have no other symptoms. No fever, no aches, no chills. So is this a sprain or broken muscle of some sort or a kidney stone, or kidney infection? Im going to my doctor today once i get off work. I cant wait i cannot stand it! Why is it that it went away Sunday and just came back, wouldnt a sprain or broken /tightened muscle stay there? the pain wouldnt just go away and re-appear? This is why im thinkin that its maybe something to do with a kidney stone or infection cause the pain went and came back. BUT its NOT in the KIDNEY AREA. Hurts to walk, and even just sit here. Feels like theres a huge boulder sitting inside my lower back! feel all tensed up. Please someone what could this be?
Oh AND i took ibuprofen this morning, four of them 200miligrams each and i took 4. And it did absolutely nothing, i put bengey that cream that smells and makes ur back hot. i put a pillow on my chair. Nothing is helping to relieve this pain. NOTHING.

Hello Friends,

I have pain at tip of penis while urinating from 2 weeks. I thought it might be due to body heat or something else and drank lots of water. The pain used to reduce when I drink much water otherwise its sharp pain. Today I came to see a stone from the penis and I went to emergency care.

The doctor was shocked seeing the stone coz of its size its 7.5mm and prescribed some medicines for the pain thereafter. I wasnt experiencing much pain now but worried how this happened and still there are any left out there. The doctor asked me for the symptoms like fever, abdomen pain or severe pain backside and I didnt have any. So he didnt seem to confirm it as kidney stones coz the pain for that would be severe and it starts from kidneys till bladder i.e., from ribs to penis. He advised for followup checkup with urologist for further investigation. And looking forward for it.

Meantime, please share any experiences or advices
Thanks for the replies.

Does that mean drinking water or having italian dressing salad will reduce the stones automatically and get rid of the problem ever.

I have been having pain in my lower abdomen for about three days now, and it is pretty intense. The pain originates where the appendix is located, but travels with less intense pain to the upper part of my torso below my chest sometimes. It is sensitive to the touch too. I thought it might be appendicitis, but I have had no other signs of illness such as a fever (which would usually happen due to the increased number of white blood cells being produced). I don’t know if it could be the start of kidney stones or gallstones. I have also been fairly constipated for the last several days. I took a laxative and got a lot flushed out, which seemed to help a little. I have also been eating prunes and activia, and have started to increase the amount of roughage I am eating. The pain has seemed to calm down some today, but is still fairly intense.

I am just trying to find someone that maybe has gone through these same symptoms, and some advice that I can take. I do not have medical insurance right now and can’t really afford anything more than a doctor’s visit. Any help will be appreciated.

About a year and a half ago I went to the doctor because of stomach pain. I had 5 small kidney stones. I was told to pass them and they never really told me what they were made of. About two months ago I went to urgent care with a fever and a severe pain in the low right side of my abdomen. I thought it was appendicitis but they said they found nothing wrong with me appendix. A few days later the doctor called and said I have a bunch of kidney stones (all small) and a small appendix stone. I am seeing a specialist soon, but the doctor I recently seen said surgery is likely… any advice on what is causing the stones?

Ok so im a 16 year old male who is scared to death of pain. I hear from people that passing a kidney stone is almost the same pain as giving birth. I have been having this pain in my lower left and right back now for about 4-5 months. The weird thing is though is that is go’s off and on. On day it will hurt for a little bit and then it will stop for another 3 months and then it will start up again. I’m soooo scared and i dont want to basically give birth! Please help me!
I also get nervous very easily and i kinda have some nausea right now. I don’t have a fever or anything.

In april I was diagnosed with kidney stones. I had left side pain on and off for a year. In that month it got worse and I had to go to the ER. I had to go through lithotripsy to get it to pass. A few weeks later I was put back into the hospital after having a fever for a week and actually in the hospital it reached 103. They said it was a infection from the stent. Since the surgery my left kidney has been pain free. Now my right side has been having the same problem, just not as bad to where I have to go to the ER. I got xrays and an IVP done recently and they told me I had small stones but they are not big enough to be causing pain. They said it is probably my actual back from lifting at work. I know its not from work bcuz I hadn’t worked in 3 days and I woke up that morning of my appt. and the pain was there. Plus it doesn’t feel like a muscle it feels internal. My question is, if its not my right kidney, what other internal organs would cause right side back pain?

I spent the whole day at the Cornell Veternary Hospital because my older dog has kidney stones that are causing serious pain. She had a temp of 105 and a heartrate of 180 at 8 this morning. The vets have assured me that the the heartrate was caused by the pain and the fever by a kidney infection. She is staying the night in Ithaca so that they can keep an eye on her. My problem right now is that I’m scared to give my other dog dinner- I had just bought a new bag of taste of the wild wetlands yesterday and soon after I fed her she took a turn for the worse and we ended up at cornell this morning. I know it has nothing to do with the food and that it was a coincidence but I still can’t get myself to give it to my other dog. Has anyone heard of any issues with TOTW lately or know what symptoms to look for in food poisening in dogs?
I guess I’m just looking for a little reassurence here.

About 8-9 days ago, i had a minor pain on my lower right back side.. i guess where the kidney would be. i didnt think anything of it, i just thought i slept wrong. then i had gotten the flu the 2 days or so later, and it lasted for about 5 days.. bad fever and stuff. and now that pain on my back side on the right and {around the side} is really bad. its been bad for about as long as my flu has been. it hurts when i take a deep breath, and cough.. even just move or lay down… i cant take it anymore. what could this be?? kidney stone? uti? what?!
i would like to add that the reason i didnt go get checked out yet is becuz i have no insurance, so i wasnt going to go unless really needed to do so.

We have been battling with the blood in urine for about a month now and we were told to take her back to the er last tuesday per dr on call because she had a fever with the blood in urine. I didnt think it was related but anyways we get there and they think its a UTI which it wasnt (urine cultures confirmed it) and this time the blood was worse. So we went to the nephrologist again today and I took a sample of the bloody urine since she dosent do it all the time. And she looks at it and said there was def blood (which you could see) and she said there were calcium crystals. The last visit she had blood we could only see with a microscope and some crystals so they sent it off for a calcium level check and it came back elevated. Well this time she seen quite a few of them and then she also had to pee for them today which contained no blood at all but contained crystals but they could not tell what kind they were. So they are sending it for another calcium check that we will know tom what it is.They are also referring her to urologist as well. Should I be concerned with the calcium crystals being in her urine now? Moms day out said she complained of her belly hurting a few times today and she will also leak on her self. Should I be worried? I heard the build up of the crystals could cause kidney stones. We have changed her diet and they are holding off on putting her on medicine because she is only 3.
Thanks. She said sending her to a urologist was not a bad idea so she was gonna refer her to one to see if they had any other input and to check her bladder. I wish I could put a picture up on here. Some people think Im crazy when I tell them her urine has looked like red kool aid before but its the truth.

After one of many intense bike rides, I felt a burning sensation in my pelvic area and an excessive urge to urinate. I have experienced these symptoms after periods of vigorous exercise but they always subsided.
(I also have an inguinal hernia that hasn’t been repaired.)
This time, in addition to the burning sensation, I also experienced mild soreness around my hip. I also had a fever for one night only. A few times I experienced mild (kidney?) stones.
I stopped riding the bike, started drinking cranberry juice, and saw palmetto/nettle.
Since then, all symptoms have gone except for the more frequent than usual urination especially after drinking wine &and possibly tea. I never had a problem with wine before.
I also feel drier and more thirsty during or after the night.
My GP ruled out diabetes and didn’t find a UTI, even though I was sure I had one. The prostate seemed fine after a DRE, and the PSA seems OK. I still get up several times at night to urinate. I am 50+.
