I have had a kidney stone/infection before so I know what kidney pain feels like…

Out of no where today, since I woke up, I’ve been having a dull aching pain in my right kidney? But its more towards the front of my body than the back. I’m having to walk slow and hunched over because of it…and when I went pee, the pain got worse while I was peeing. I’m not having any other symptoms, no fever, no burning when I pee, no weird smelling pee….What could be going on???

About three weeks ago I had a very sharp and sudden pain in my back on the right side. It continued, infrequently for the next couple of days. I also began to experience symptoms of a bladder infection so I went to the doctor and told them all of my symptoms and they tested my urine and said I had a bladder infectoin and gave me Bactrim to take for 5 days. They said nothing about my kidneys. I finished my antibiotics yesterday and was feeling okay. Today I have been getting sharp pains in my back again, I have no fever, and no UTI symptoms, so I don’t think its an infection, could it be a stone? If so should I go to the ER or wait for a doctor’s appt?

I have a VERY bad UTI/kidney infection. I started a high powered antibiotic today and was wondering how long it’s going to take to start feeling better? I’m drinking plenty of a water and cranberry juice and sitting on my butt.

I swear this hurts worse than labor and the kidney stone I had a few years back COMBINED. All I can do is sit back and cry and let the Tylenol take the edge off it. I feel like I’m dying I swear! :(

I was showing all the symptoms of having a UTI for the past 4 days but I didn’t realize it. It wasn’t until I woke up with a fever of 102 this morning and was doubled over in pain that I went to get checked out and realized it was a UTI. I’m almost 38 weeks pregnant so I thought a lot of my symptoms were just from the being pregnant (peeing more often, pelvic pressure/pain, pain in my abdomen ect.) mixed with being what I thought was a flu like bug.

I can barely type right now I’m in soo much pain but I need to do something to keep my mind off it. If you have any experience with a UTI while please tell me. I need to know there is light at the end of this stupid tunnel. Are my antibiotics going to start working soon or am I going to feel like this for the next few days?

Sorry for being such a big baby. Maybe it’s just cause I’m soo pregnant but it makes me feel better to type all this till my hubby can get back to our house with more cranberry juice and bottled water. :(
Just to add the baby is doing fine. She’s a tough little cookie.

I woke up yesterday morning with severe pain in my back, right below the ribcage. It hurt to inhale deeply, cough, laugh, twist my torso, and even just standing or sitting. I may have possibly had a UTI the day before, but I didn’t think there was any correlation. It was pretty bad, and I was freaked out, so I went to the ER. They gave me a CT scan, urine test, and some major painkillers.

When I got the CT results, the doctors said that even though they couldn’t see a kidney stone, that’s what they believed it to be. (They said the symptoms added up: "wrap-around" pain in the kidney area, good response to painkillers, blood cells in urine) So with a nice prescription for heavy strength Ibuprofen, I went home. Minimal pain for the rest of the night.

THIS morning, I woke up with very little pain on my right side (the original side), but lots of pain on my left. It was as if my kidney stone switched places! Could it be possible to have two kidney stones, one right after the other?

I’m also skeptical about the CT scan. Wouldn’t a stone have showed up on it? Could I have an infection? I don’t have a fever or any other symptoms besides those listed above.

My husband has had this pain in his back for about a week now and each day it gets worse. He first thought a kidney stone, because he gets them frequently but he said this time is different. It’s not excruciating pain. It is sharp and stabbing, but not like a kidney stone. And usually he has blood in his urine by now and he doesn’t have that and the pain hasn’t really moved.

He doesn’t have a fever. The pain is right below his rib cage on the right side of his back. It’s not tender to the touch, but it does hurt to lay on it in certain positions. Basically if his body isn’t all contorted, he’s in pain. The pain does not come and go, it is constant. Aleve has not helped (which I hate giving him NSAIDS because he has a genetic fatty liver, but it helped his pain in the beginning).

He also feels bloated all along his right side (it’s not a visible swelling to me) and he said all he wants to do is sleep.

He’s been drinking tons of water and no change in symptoms. Any ideas?

I’m having sharp pain on my right side lower back. It get worst each day, I am not developing any more symptoms, no pain urinating, no nausea, vomiting, fever, nothing just the pain. Is it possible that it’s kidney stones?? Or just need to drink more water. I’m not into drinking water at all, I just started drinking it recently because it makes my pain ease.

My friend has an outside lab that hasn’t been eating for the past two days and is taking in very little water. She’s planning on giving him a boost of B12, which will hopefully help his appetite, and I recommended that she smear some peanut butter on his gums for protein and hopefully it’ll encourage him to drink more. He hasn’t passed anything through his system and doesn’t act sore – his temperature is at a low 99. She says the only thing off is his diet and the fact that when he urinates, it comes out in short bursts, making us think there could be something wrong with his kidneys or urinary tract. We’ve ruled out any tract infection, which would cause him to have a temperature, so I wonder if it’s possible for male dogs to pass kidney stones, or if maybe there could be some prostate swelling.

Or anything else. Ideas, please, on how to get him in better health.
First off, don’t tell us that we need to take him to the vet or how he should be supervised. The dog has been in a closed off area of 3 acres for all his life and it’s almost certain that he hasn’t been into something, as it’s THEIR BACKYARD. Human medication, you say? Well I didn’t ask if B12 was okay to give, BECAUSE I ALREADY KNOW IT IS.

A urinary tract infection, or ANY infection, is indication of a fever. He isn’t running one. THAT’S how we know. I hate using this community for answers and only do so in emergencies because you people are ass holes and are extremely repetitive.

Not everyone has the money to run their dog to the vet over every little thing, especially when things are like they are for the economy. Some things have to be put before others in times like this, and a dog isn’t one of the main priorities, especially if there’s hope that it can be fixed at home.

So any advice that isn’t the OBVIOUS, please.

I’m 20 weeks pregnant right now.Couple of months ago I noticed blood on the tissue (bright) when I went to the bathroom in the morning. I was very scarred.I tought is coming from the placenta. Later I realized (1 month later) it was coming from the urine. My doctor prescribed me amoxicillin. He sad is bladder infection (without even taking a test!!!) I felt very bad taking those pills, but I assumed is better, and hopefully it won’t affect the baby. Now 1 month later I’m back were I was, even worse. For the last 2 1/2 weeks my urine is awful.Bloody, especially in the morning, and my kidney hurt.I have to mention,I have kidney stone for couple of years now.I felt it moving in the last couple of days.I do not have any other symptoms. No fever, nausea,I have very good appetite. My urine is dark, has white flaky thing in it, and bloody, with bloody little tissues floating. I’m very scarred for my baby. I do not want any medication or stent put in.I’m going to the doctor on tuesday.
I haven’t mention this: I drink no coffee, sodas or sugary stuff, I drink cranberry juice every day and 3 liters of water.I’m very carefull with everything.I still think is my kidney stone.

Around this same time last year I had a kidney infection that lasted about 2 weeks. The only thing that really felt wrong then was I had a lot of pain in my lower left side of my back so I went to the doctor and did a urine test and they said there were white blood cells found. They said it could either be an infection or kidney stones. They prescribed me some Bactrim and Oxycodone. Less than a week into the medication I felt completely better.

This time I have the same symptoms – pain in my lower left side of my back. It’s been a total of 2 weeks and 4 days since the symptoms surfaced. The pain is much worse this time. I also feel like I have a fever off and on, I have almost no appetite, and I feel nauseated often. I went to the doctor again and they prescribed me the same drugs but 2 weeks later I am not feeling any better whatsoever. On top of that, the pain killers I think are causing my nausea. I have to lay down almost constantly and sitting in a chair is agony. I went back to the doctor and got Ciproflaxacin and almost a week into that one… still not better. I wake up in the middle of the night in so much pain even last night. The pain killers don’t last long enough during the night to let me sleep. I just feel terrible all the time now.

I’m beginning to think this is more than a kidney infection. The doctor prescribed a CT Scan but I don’t want to fork over the funds to do that if it is just an infection and I’m being impatient.

How long could/should a kidney infection last when taking all of your medication correctly?
How long should I wait before I go to the hospital to get a CT Scan?

It is right below my ribs, but above my belly button, on the ride side of my stomach. It feels fine when I am sitting down or lying down, it only hurts when i walk around. It started this past Tuesday while I was in Las Vegas on vacation, and hasnt changed since. I do not have any other symptoms, no fever, nauseousness, etc. Just the pain when I walk around. I do have stage 2 kidney disease, but i do not have kidney stones and that sort of thing. Thanks!
When I press on it, the pain goes away, it doesnt shift. Also my BM’s are fine, totally normal. I am on weight watchers and spent this past weekend eating things I havent eaten in over 2 years, so my husband thinks its because of that. I got this once before, again on vacation, and it just went away after awhile. I just wish I knew what it was so I could prevent it. I hate ruining my vacations!

I’ve been have dull/aching pain on my right side beside my pelvis. Sometimes I get a sharp pain. I also have pain in my lower back. I went to the clinic yesterday and the doctor said it could be my appendix or an ovarian cyst. He told me to go to the emergency so I went.
The ER doctor said that I have a kidney infection and a urinary tract infection. But my blood tests are normal and I have no pain when peeing. Is a kidney/UTI still possible? I’ve been taking antibiotics for 2 days and the pain is still there. Also, I have no fever.
I asked the ER doc if it could be an ovarian cyst because the doctor at the clinic said that’s what it could be. The ER doc said yes he thinks that’s what it is, but I don’t think he was listening to my question at the time. Plus, I didn’t know what an ovarian cyst was so I went home with just some antibiotics.
What should I do now? And what could it be? Please help, I am scared!

I am quite sure I have a kidney infection: fever of 100 for 2 days, awful lower back aches (walking hurts a lot despite being 24 and in good shape), chills, nausea, headache, stiffness and peeing blood. This is the 3rd instance of this in 20 months…the 1st two times I went to the ER, was told it was probably kidney stones, and instead it ended up being combo uti and kidney infection. I got percocet, morphine, and promethazine for pain/nausea…not worth the collections calls from not affording my visits. I was peeing blood yesterday and today, but since about ten hours ago I have not been able to urinate at all despite drinking 4 big glasses of water and an entire bottle of cranberry juice. My back hurts and I am dizzy, but I don’t want pain pills. What should I do? I don’t have insurance.

I’m on day 4 of passing a 4mm kidney stone. I am still in pain. I am concerned for a couple reasons. I. My pain has moved to a larger areaa. The stone is on my right side and I had localized pain there. But now I have it on the left and in my belly area, like a bad gas pain that won’t pass. 2. Doctor gave me a 50% chance it wouldn’t pass. I have no fever but a UTI and I am afraid it will get stuck. I am drinking over a gallon of water a day plus cranberry juice too. 3. If it takes three weeks to pass, will I be in this pain the whole time? I don’t want to be on narcotics at work or on addicitive nartcotics for three weeks either. Any help or advice toease my mind. I hae seen a urologist and he jst told me to wait and see.

I’ve had the same sort of pain for about a week. It starts just to the right side of my right hip bone (in my lower abdomen) and radiates down my right leg into my knee and around my pelvic bone across my lower back. The pain is not constant (some days I have no pain at all) and is a bit like a cramping/stabbing hurt. It started out as a non-rhythmic throbbing, but as the week has gone by I’m now in some sort of pain when ever I’m on my feet. When sitting down the hip/abdominal pain goes away and I’m left with a dull lower back ache. I’ve also noticed that the pain always seems to flare up when ever I have to use the bathroom (bowel movement). I haven’t had any trouble "going" but I do seem to be going more frequently. I have no nausea or fever, nor do I have a noticeably swollen abdomen. I’ve racked my brain and searched the internet for causes of these symptoms but I can’t seem to diagnose them exactly.

Kidney stones? Appendicitis? Ovarian cysts? Crohn’s disease? Help!
The pain is just on the left side of my right hip bone. (sorry for the typo)

only to subsequently read on the info sheet that this can reduce absorption. I have 6 more days to take it and obviously I won’t take it w/ Ensure anymore. Is this going to cause me any problems? (I’m taking it b/c I have a kidney stone and an elevated white blood cell count, although no fever or other symptoms of infection.)

I’ve had chronic lower back pain in the kidney areas. What is a harmless home remedy to pass kidney stones that really works. I have the symptoms but no fever and would really like to try before going to doctor.

For the past week I have been in pain on my lower right side. It is right around where my hip bone is, but on the inside… My doctor thought it was a kidney infection/stones, but a sonogram has revealed this not to be the case. I am NOT pregnant nor do I have an STD (I have been tested). Any idea what this could be.

Symptoms…
1. Pain on lower right side, sometimes so bad I cannot walk.
2. Used to have pain during urination.
3. Slight cramps.
4. Possible fever.

i am a 19 year old female, and i noticed that for the past few weeks my kidneys have been hurting right before i go to bed. and for the past few days they have been hurting all day. i went to the doctor the other day and he said i may have kidney stones, and to go to the hospital if i vomit and have a fever within the next few days. but i really don’t think i have kidney stones, i feel like it is something else. i am just wondering what else it could be, or if anyone else has ever had the same symptoms and got a diagnosis.

I had a dark urine color since yesterday morning, If I drink plenty of water the urine color becomes kind of normal. Does anyone know if its dangerous and should I go to emergency room?
In past I had kidney stones but I don’t remember having a dark urine.
I DONT have any other symptoms – no pain, nausea, fever, nothing like that.
It would be not dark yellow but more like brownish, cant tell if there is blood..

I’m concerned with a few things. I have had kidney stones, UTI’s, and I currently have a gallstone (too large to pass through the duct). However I am concerned that it is something more complicated. I am not asking fora diagnosis but I was wondering what it could be. I’ve been experiencing localized discomfort in my abdominal region. My symptoms include:
-Side pain both left and right
-Back pain, which i think is because of my gallstone
-my dr also told me my urine had enzymes in it, along with some blood.
-I randomly get UTI’s roughly every 3 months
-Joint pain
-occasional intense short term headaches
- lower Abdominal pain (I believe appendix area), tender to the touch
- Crampy/stiff sensations on sides and upper front abdominal region.
-extreme fatigue
-frequent fever accompanied by my skin flushed.
-irregular periods

also- I had a ultrasound (that’s how they found my gallstone), and my dr said my liver looked "okay". I am 21, and rarely drink at all…any help?

please don’t respond with "go see dr." i already know that, and i have a appointment. i just want to know what i should bring up to him during my visit.

Patient is female, 70 yrs old, about 4 days ago, had fever, vomited once and complained about stomach pain, sonography revealed small stones in Gall Bladder. this is the first time this has happened. But since that day there are no other symtons or any pain. Is surgery the only solution or these stones can be dissolved by any other means.
