I heard that calcium can do a lot for your hair, and someone told me that it can prevent or put off a current hairline.
Most of the men on my dad’s side of the family have had baldness to some extent.
No one on my mother’s side of the family has had hairloss including my grandfather who didn’t seem to lose any hair until he died in his mid-70’s.
I have an average amount of body hair, maybe a little more. I have hairy legs and a unibrow if I don’t shave it, but everything else seems about average for my age.
I have a lot of calcium in my body, so much so that I have been prone to getting kidney stones since I was in 5th grade. I think this is why my bones and teeth are so strong.
So, with the information given, do you think I’ll end up bald or with significant hairloss?
Maybe I should mention that I’m 15 and have a straight hairline. It goes back very little on the sides, a bit less of a recede than I see on most other guys.
I would also like to ask when you think they’ll have a cure for baldness.
I also have hair like my maturnal grandfather. We both have the same color hair and it’s wavy in pretty much the same places.

My dad has had kidney stones since he was about 25. Now my sister has one at 19. Do you think I have a greater chance of getting them now since my sister has them? I’m only 13 and it scares me because I’m watching my sister go through all this pain and I don’t want to have to go through it too.
my dad said that if one child has it then the others have 0 chance of them. his doctor said that, but online it says that that is not proven, but more of an opinion. which is right?

My dad’s gf has been living with him, along with her 3 yr old son. her boy isnt there all the time, but most of the time. shes a senior in college, so shes quite a bit younger than he is and she looks good! I know she loves my dad though, but her behavior indicates that she hasnt grown up yet, at 24 and having one child, she acts like shes 17. shes always out partying and drinking. I’m really not sure why a young woman that looks like her wants a man thats twice her age and has a full beard, but they seem to get along quite well and im sure the sex is amazing. his health is good, he just gets kidney stones every now and then and then has to pass them. he also suffers from BPH with his prostate and had a gallstone removed. He passes stones every year, so he’s always drinking liquids and peeing. i know that she does want to have another baby once she graduates at the end of the summer. my dad is willing to have a baby with her, even though he doesnt need anymore kids, but most men wouldnt turn her down! he thinks a baby will settle her down a bit. i guess its possible. they do love each other and i believe that she could be my stepmom at some point. there is a good picture of them kissing on her facebook with their arms around one another. a good pic!

when my bf had a kidney stone attack, he had called me to take him to the ER. he was w/ his 7 yr old son & he was laying on a picnic table in horrible pain. After they diagnosed him w/ 2 stones. they gave him a hospial room, I spent the time waiting w/ his son who was wondering what was wrong with his dad. the room had a private bathroom to it & when the nurse brought him a strainer to pee in, he said this is the worst part. He peed twice within an hour, but nothing. THe 3rd time I peed, he passed it and when he was in the bathroom passing it, he kept screaming, not LOUD, but enough where people down the hall could hear. I heard someone ask a nurse what was going on & she said, "he must have passed his kidney stone!" have any other men screamed or anything when the stone has exited out thier penis? I heard it can be pain free or very painful? 2 days later when he passed the 2nd stone, which was much bigger, it sounded like he was dying in the bathroom & was actually screaming loud!

My Dad said my brother had to go to the hospital during school today and they are running tests to see if he has kidney stones. He is only 12 and I am worried something really bad might happen to him. My Dad said he might have to get surgery.

I have a little problem of whether or not to take calcium pills. I’m Chinese so I dont have a lot of dairy foods in my diet. A lot of older chinese woman have very fragile bones so my doctor has always been pushing me to eat calcium pills.

However, my dad has kidney stones and that means I could get it too. I drink very little water a day, maybe 3-4 cups, sometimes less. Once in a while I try to drink more but I usually go back to my old habits. Calcium pills would probably make it more likely for me to get kidney stones because so many minerals will have to pass through my kidneys. I know I could drink more water and I do try but I usually forget after a while. Also when I drink more its around 5-8 cups so it might still be a little low.

So what should I do? Eat calcium pills and fear kidney stones or not eat them and fear breaking my bones later on? Choose one!

So recently over the past 3 days my cat has been acting weird.
He cannot seem to urinate and sometimes there like droplets of red fluid. Now he’s like going anywhere he wants trying to urinate and he can’t seem to. Last night he spent the night in lying in his litterbox and this morning in a cardboard box. He seems so weak & I don’t know what to do. He doesn’t want to eat or drink anything. I just found him foaming at the mouth. :O

Are there any home remedies I can do to help him? And what could of caused this?
My parents don’t want to pay like 0 for a surgery/vet visit or anything. :(
I don’t know if this helps but my dad sometimes lets him out to explore the backyard on a leash. Plus my mom fed him the leftovers in a tuna fish can. Can overfeeding him also be a factor?

He’s like 2 years old.
This has happened before like a week ago before this. We gave it this medicine we bought from this asian medicine store and he was cured.

Now it’s up again..
-sigh-

I was hoping you wouldn’t say that. :(
I guess we’re sending it to the humane society so they can take care of it.

My parents aren’t willing to pay for the vet..
Thanks everyone.

I’ll miss my cat. :(

My dad drank a lot of mineral water and then got a kidney stone…are the minerals building up in the kidneys, or is it something else? i thought it was just calcium, but is this also a cause?

i asked a question yesterday ( http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AlfDttypzDwd_JWkYDdheWHsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20100503142323AAlgDa7 )
and most of the answers suggested i had a ‘Urinary Tract Infection’
I typed up my symptoms online and saw it may be a kidney infection,
my dad has serious kidney stones and my parents got warned when i was younger that i may inherit it.
what are the symptoms of a kidney infection ? im really scared :(

my dad has passed 10 kidney stones and with all of the recent talk about them, i was wondering what do men have to say about what it feels like to pee one out, meaning what does it feel like to pee it out? do you pee them into a strainer? does the strainer rest over the toilet, do you hold the strainer? how does the process all work?

My schnauzer is 6 years old. He started having accidents inside the house (even with being let outside regularly) and sometimes in his pee there’s some blood. We took him to the vet and he got antibiotics (on two different occasions) and he’s also been x-rayed for kidney stones. We’ve also changed his diet (per the vet’s request). Any ideas on what else could be wrong? Has anyone else had schnauzers with issues? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the suggestions.
I don’t think a blood panal was done. (I didn’t take him to the vet, my dad did).

I don’t know what kind of antibiotics it was either.
He was given antibiotics (first time) for a UTI, and that didn’t work (or it came back?), so that was when he had an x-ray done looking for stones as well as getting new antibiotics. (The second round of antibiotics was a longer dose…more pills to take).

my dad is 54, his current gf who is about a month pregnant is 24 and i do see wedding bells for them down the road. since he turned 50, he divorced his 2nd wife and really begun dating women between 20 and 25! he got two of them pregnant, while at the same time his health was tipping. when he turned 50, he found he had diabetes and was suffering from bph enlarged prostate which he still does today, not to mention high cholesterol, a gallstone and a his share of kidney stones and high blood pressure. i remember him not really having a best diet, no fruit, rarely drank water either. in his mid 30’s he passed his 1st kidney stone & said it was an eye opener, but continued to get them through the years and still not do much about it. how does an older guy like with the health problems get all the young hot women? do women care whether or not the guy they’re having a baby with as all of these health problems? thats he passed his share of kidney stones? my mom said he probably yelled or screamed when the stone came out of his "you know?" and said its just like having a baby for a man. wouldnt all of the stone affect sexual performance for a man? i just cant imagine having a pee out a solid, hard rock through my johnson, let alone having my young hot gf hear me scream from it!

my dad is in his early 50’s and has been going with a 22 year old girl. shes asian american, very nice and very cute. he’s only been dating her for 6 months and not to mention that she is 4 months pregnant with his baby! they are newly engaged as well. since she’s came into the picture, he’s ignored his health as well as his other kids, well some of them! back in november, he passed a kidney stone, it was a fairly large stone to pass & they told him he was lucky that he could pass one that big. before christmas, they found out that she was pregnant, then two weeks ago, they got engaged and booked a trip to Mexico to celebrate. they left early on saturday morning, even though they almost didnt go because my dad had a kidney stone attack on friday afternoon…and ended up passing another stone. they had to be at the airport at 6am and he passed it at 4am. i know this because i was one of the two people that went to the airport to see them off. we were talking because they had an hour to blow before they boarded, so he was telling us about the stone. he said he stayed up and kept peeing and finally around 4 he passed it. does it sound like he’s rushing everything? it seems like he could care less that he’s had 2 kidney stone in less than 6 months. i know its just peeing out a hard pebble and intense pain, but couldn’t the trip have been delayed? what did he probably do with the stone?

I was asked in some medical exam I’d taken regarding my parents/siblings medical history, and one of the questions were something about urine disease, and I answered negatively.
My dad had kidney stones twice in the past, and I wonder if it counts as a disease?

My dad has been having severe pain off and on right below the right side of his rib cage for about 3 weeks now. We don’t think it is kidney stones since it’s infront right below his ribs not in the lower back where most kidney stone pain occurs. My mom and other family members are assuming it could possibly be his appendix. But, we do not know. I live about an hour away from my family and just saw my dad 2 days ago. He can cover his pain very well. When he thought no-one was looking I did catch him clutching his side tightly and bending over and was moaning. My mom said this has been happening alot more and is more constant. When we ask him about the pain he gets angry and says don’t worry about it. He does not believe in Doctors, so him going to the Dr. is out of the question. He has no health insurance coverage due to the fact that he has no intentions EVER of going to the Dr. which makes all of this even more frustrating for the people who care about him. He has not had any type of a physical exam by a Dr. in over 10 years. If this is or could be Appendicitis, we do know that it could rupture and cause death but, how long will the pain last before it ruptures and what are the final warning signs? Or if anyone has any clue what this could be please let me know?

my dad, who is now in his mid 50’s, has been getting kidney stones and passing them since he was 36. he passes 5-15 stones per year, during this time, he has been very sexually active, to his own admission and has always been a womanizer/player.i dont think he ever dated or been with a woman that was under 30! during this time span, he fathered 4 kids with 4 different women. i know he’s not responsible, but, whats done is done, he’s got the money to do it all. he said if not for having passed so many kidney stones over the years, that he would probably have more kids than he already has! I guess I can see how they could affect a man’s ability to have intercourse, i mean the stones do come out of their penis’ and i hear after the stone, depending on its size, after coming out of the urethra, there is serious irritation afterwards? so he calls the stones a painful blessing and wake up call! would you agree that if you were a man and always passing kidney stones, that it would tough trying to conceive a baby with a woman? thankfully, my dad is now getting married and ready to settle with 1 woman and with her age and looks, i imagine a few kids would follow, not sure though!

I’ve been reading and there seem to be a lot of different things this could be. My dad used to have kidney stones, so i guess that could be a possibility, and i had sex 3 days ago so i highly doubt its pregnancy symptoms, atleast already. What do u think?
