I went to my primary today [income based clinic] for a followup from my ER visit, brought the stone assuming they’d want to test it but the doctor did nothing of the sort.
I told him I wanted to know what it was made of so I could make diet and/or lifestyle decisions to prevent more and he said it didn’t matter. I told him I’d read most are calcium and that testing can be done for that but he insisted that the likelihood of it being composed of calcium was almost zero.
.. which I also read most stones are made of.
So when I got around to asking the doctor if I could drink or smoke cigarettes at all I was already skeptical of the validity of what he was telling me.
He responded that I could never again in my life consume alcohol and needed to quit smoking immediately.
Now I’m not claiming to know anything about the condition from what I’ve read online, nor am I arguing that smoking or having a beer is good for my health but I would like to have a second opinion on the matter.
I’m 22 and just saying I’d like to go out and have a drink on occasion.
Furthermore, should I try finding another doctor to test the stone?
