I passed a kidney stone a year ago (my frist one) then I found out I had another one and had a lithotripsy. I am experiencing some back pain in my lower right side but my urine isn’t changing colors at all. I also am having some nausous moments too but no vomiting. Can someone please tell me what this sounds like? Its been bothering me for 4 days now and can’t get to my doctor until next week. I just want to know if it sounds like I have a stone in my kidney working its way down or if it sounds like something else. Thank you

Alright, on Friday night, I was out playing some baseball with some friends and no back pain. When i woke up the next morning, Saturday, my lower back was hurting around my kidneys. The pain has not been Extreme, but enough to notice it. I only notice it when i move. Over the past month ive been drinking many sodas and not much water. Im 17 and not very active and this was the first time ive been active. it;s now Tuesday and i can still feel it. Is it a Kidney stone or just a pain from not being active in awhile?

I’m 16 and I have severe pain in my lower back/sides of back and I used the symptom checker on Web MD and it suggested that I may have kidney stones. I recently had a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection) and I got antibiotics, but I’ve read that if you don’t get a UTI treated quickly enough, you could get a kidney infection or kidney stones. Could someone explain to me what this could possibly be?

Also, when you have kidney stones, do you get the back pain first or do the actual stones come out first?
I’m also feeling nauseous and have a stomach ache.

So I did look up the symptoms..but I’m not entirely sure…I don’t want to like raise alarms for nothing…

I’ve been in pain for the past three days. My pain started around lower right abdominal area (not so much near the bellybutton…) but like somewhat upper thigh…I also have constant back pain like right behind that area. When I’m holding my urine, it hurts so much. After I use the bathroom, the pain ebbs a bit and it’s duller.

Today I woke up with both sides in so much pain. Now the pain migrates between the left side and the right side. On the left side the same thing is happening, my lower back on the left hurts as does my left side and it hurts to move/walk. When it’s on my left side, there’s no pain on my right side. And vice versa. I tried that putting pressure on the area and removing and it kinda hurts but not excessively so.

I don’t think I’ve ever had this pain this bad before. My mom had appendicitis when she was younger too. I thought maybe it was due to salt intake or something because I’m now fasting for Ramadan. I just started yesterday too. I’ve been having constipation as well and I did use the bathroom and I feel the pressure go away a bit more this early morning, but it still came back now.

How do I know it’s not a kidney stone or something else..? Anyone with experience? If the pain doesn’t ebb I’ll most likely call a doctor…but yeah.
I’ve been drinking a lot of water and my urine is clear. There hasn’t been blood in my urine either…
I was like constipated this morning not the days before…the days before wasn’t. And when I push on the left my right side hurts when I let go…
It also just moved this morning…yesterday and the day before it was constant right side pain. And now my left side hurts real bad…I already excreted so I’m fine now with the constipation.
Also, I started fasting yesterday. The day before I was eating normally and I still was having that pain…I don’t think it’s Ramadan right now.

Hello, I am 35 weeks pregnant and had some severe side and back pain the other night. I went to Labour and Delivery and they told me it is kidney stones kept me overnight and gave me some morphine to manage the pain. When I woke up (the morphine had wore off) the pain was gone. However, the pain has returned. Is this normal? How long can I expect this pain to come and go? Also why does it come and go?

Has this happened to anyone else? Were you able to manage the pain at home with tylenol? Any experience you have had with this is greatly appreciated.

BTW – they did an ultrasound and no stones showed up however the OB still thinks there are stones and they aren’t showing up because everything is so cramped with the pregnancy.

Wednesday February 9th late at night I started to feel bad back pain. I went to bed thinking it was just back pain nothing else.

* I had not done anything to my back.
* I had not lifted anything to heavy.
* I had not fallen at all
* I had not been hit at all

Thursday February 10th I woke up early morning in alot of back pain. So much back pain that:

1.) I couldnt put any pressure on my back (meaning i couldnt put my back against anything)

2.) I could not stand up straight at all (I am so bent over and cannot stand straight at all I look like a question mark or the hunch back)

3.) The pain is horrible 10 or higher! Its from my butt to my neck. Most of the pain is lower back!

4.) I was getting sick from the pain (sick as in throwing up, when I move or even when laying still)

5.) The only thing I could keep down was toast.

6.) Nothing can touch my back a tiny bit of pressure makes the pain worse!

7.) I can hardly walk due to the pain in my back and the fact im bent so much

8.) I cannot do anything on my own do to all the pain and being bent so far.

I started calling my doctors about help due to everything heres the info that they have said and tests they ran and test results:

1.) Hospital ran a pee test saying my symptoms seemed like kidney stones.
—Answer came back I do not have kidney stone, but I do have small amounts of blood in my urine (not on period)

2.) Hosptial ran a xray to make sure of kidney stones
— Answer xray came out negative for kidney stones
—- Released from hospital with medication for a possible infection.

3.) Seen my normal doctor she ran a pee test, and checked me out.
—Answer Pee test came out with just small amounts of blood in my urine.
— Answer checking me out she said she thought I had some type of infection taking over my body so she gave me pain medications to cure my infection.
**** Pain medication did not help > actually made me really sick.

4.) Seen a sports care doctor (aka back doctor) They said they could tell I was not in good shape and said it was probably just a musle spasum. But said it was obvious I am not well. They did a xray of my spine.
—- Answer, xray showed my l4 & l5 lumbar are fused together
**** Doctor said maybe that is why I’m in so much pain, they gave me pain medication and set me up for an mri to see if my nerves in my l4 & l5 lumbar are damanged or not.

5.) Pain medication did not help actually made me more sick

6.) February 22nd had my mri done.

7.) February 24th the doctor called and said my mri showed that my nerves are not damaged. But that my disk below my L5 is bulging.
**** They said that would be causing a little bit of the pain but not all the pain im in.
***** THey said they dont know what else is wrong and advised me to see a pain managment doctor.

8.) The doctor gave me pain medication and pain patches to wear but that is all they offered. They said when my pain goes to a 5 and im able to walk more and stand up more then ill have to go through physical therapy > but no idea when that will be.

With all that is said above,
1.) I’m still in alot of back pain
2.) I’m still unable to stand up (still bent downward!)
3.) I’m still getting sick off and on.
4.) Pain meds are not helping at all.
5.) Still unable to have anything touch my back as it adds more pain!
6.) Unable to do anything!

I’m looking for any advice, or ideas to try or even to look into! Anything would be appreciated! I’v delt with this for far to long, and cannot do anything at all! I’d like to have my life back. I’d like to find an answer or a different option to fix the pain issue so i’m able to stand up and have no pain or at least less pain! Right now doctors I’m personally seeing have thrown their hands up in the air and said they dont know and can no longer help. If you could please offer any kind of advice on what I should do or another type of doctor to look into seeing or even tell me something you think it could be so I can look up information on it or anything else I’d honestly with all my heart appreciate it! This has taken over my body, and has taken over my life. I no longer can live a normal life. I’d like to get back to normal and be able to do things again! Please…

Please! And thank you to those who offer any kind of advice or ideas or exc. So I’ve never had a kidney infection or kidney stone before. I’m afraid I have one now, but I’m not sure how to tell for sure. I woke up this morning with UTI symptoms and then about 15 minutes later I had THE WORST pains on my lower-ish left side of my back. It was super bad. After maybe 20 minutes it went away. All of this within the past 2 hours this morning. Also, off and on for about the past week I’ve had UTI symptoms. What do you think based on your experience with it? I can’t go to the doctor until about 4pm today (unless the bad back pain comes back).

I have a history of kidney stones and I was having some back pain and pelvic pain that felt similar to stones. I also had blood in my urine. Since it was at night, I went to the ER and they did a CT. They saw small stones in my kidney but they weren’t passing at the time and were no where near passing. The doc said that because of that, the stones are not causing my pain or blood in urine. He said that I did NOT have an infection but he was diagnosing me with cystitis. He said that the ureters and urethra can become inflamed and can cause blood in the urine. He also said that it is a lot of blood. It is not menstrual issues, however, I am having surgery on June 3rd to check for endometriosis. I am curious if anyone else has had cystitis without the infection. Also, at one point a doctor said that I could have interstitial cystitis and they are going to do a cystoscope. They are planning on waiting until after my endo surgery. Has anyone had any similar symptoms or problems? I have drank so much water that you can hear water sloshing around in my stomach and it made me sick. Obviously, I was a little over hydrated, I went a little overboard. Though, anyone who has had kidney stones, know that fluids are your best friend. I passed a 7mm stone in a doctors office a little longer than a year ago and every since then I have had blood in my urine. I’m starting to think that maybe it’s scar tissue inside. I’m just not sure.

Im 27 years old, single, not married and Im suffering an on/off lower abdominal pain together with back pain and fever. And there’s a vaginal discharge as well, sometimes odorless and most of the time it has very foul smell. The discharge appearance looks kind like pus, but it’s not. Somewhat transparent/milky, pale yellow, blood stain at time( not too much, just a few streaks), the discharge sometimes sticky & watery, they have the ‘water’ and ‘mucus’ part as well. ( I had to use tissue which I fold in many layer instead of using pad/pantyliners because there’s a lot of discharge which is came out frequently and I have to change it once in an 1 or 2 hours ). The cramp which Im having is similar like period cramp, but it goes on/off. No itching vulva/vagina, and no burning sensation when I urinate( except that ‘unsatisfied’ feeling after Im done. I feel like i still want to pee, but nothing will come out. And FYI, I can’t hold my urine longer like before. When the urge to pee come, I have to go to the toilet as soon as possible or I will pee in pants. I don’t know why it happened like this.

The last intercourse I had was 3 months back, only once or twice. Even after having sex with the last man, nothing strange happened after that.

I had this kind of sickness 3 years back. I was bleeding frequently (not too much like period blood, but there’s a blood discharge, sometimes red and brown ). I cant move at all even to turn around my body while sleeping, the lower abdominal pain was very severe. I became too weak and pale because I bleed non stop for more than a months. 3-4 hospitals which I visited told me different results for that illness. Such as appendicitis, gastrontritis, kidney stone, UTI, STD disease (which is funny because I never had sex with anyone that time ). One of the doctor even wanted to remove my appendix. Luckily I didnt proceed coz I dont have enough money. So I tried traditional/alternative medicine, and it really works!

I cant even sit in the car or bus that ‘bumping too hard on the road’ because I feel pain whenever there’s a pressure to my stomach. Now im depending to Ibuprofen very often to ease my pain

Please tell me what is wrong with me? Is this what you call endometritis? Or Pelvic Inflammatory Disease? Or apendicitis? Or kidney stone? Should I do Pap Smear or any lab test for this? I hope anyone can give me advice on this issue. Really appreciate your help.

P/S : I had my menstrual at age 9.
TQ victor for your answer. But Im scared to go for a medical check up again. What if the the same thing happened again this time? Like 3 years back, I went to 3-4 hospitals and all the doctors gave me different diagnosis and lots of medicine to be taken.

If 3 years back I was told by one of the doctor "we need to remove your appendix", probably this time they will tell me " we need to remove your uterus"

Im scared….

I’ve had a kidney stone for a little over a week and a half now. It has yet to pass, hopefully it’s getting close. I’ve had all the bad back pain, nausea, and stomach pain that goes along with kidney stones. They don’t know the cause of the kidney stone until I catch it, when it passes and they analyze it. I had three a little over a month ago that were caused by ice cream, then my boyfriend, who is about 30 years older than me, got one a week later caused by caffeine. Now I haven’t had anything that "causes" them since the last one, but I’ve got another one, which they confirmed at the e.r. a week and a half ago.

This morning I woke up with vomiting and bloody diarrhea. Not blood when I wipe but blood in the actual diarrhea. Does anyone know if this could be related to the kidney stones? I am trying to avoid going back to the e.r. because it’s possible for me to get sick there when people around me are sick (since I have a lowered immune system due to other illnesses) and I won’t be able to see a primary care doctor for about 45 days. Any insight on the cause, or if they are connected would be helpful.

Thanks in advance for your answers!
By the way it’s not swine flu, so don’t waste my time with answers about that.

Right Side/back pain… Kidney infection?
I have had a kidney stone before on the left side. Today my right side hurts and the pain is familiar, yet not as intense. Could it be a kidney infection? Have you had a kidney infection? Did the pain start out small and gradually get worse or was it more comparable to kidney stone pain?

In april I was diagnosed with kidney stones. I had left side pain on and off for a year. In that month it got worse and I had to go to the ER. I had to go through lithotripsy to get it to pass. A few weeks later I was put back into the hospital after having a fever for a week and actually in the hospital it reached 103. They said it was a infection from the stent. Since the surgery my left kidney has been pain free. Now my right side has been having the same problem, just not as bad to where I have to go to the ER. I got xrays and an IVP done recently and they told me I had small stones but they are not big enough to be causing pain. They said it is probably my actual back from lifting at work. I know its not from work bcuz I hadn’t worked in 3 days and I woke up that morning of my appt. and the pain was there. Plus it doesn’t feel like a muscle it feels internal. My question is, if its not my right kidney, what other internal organs would cause right side back pain?

Okay damnit =/ I’ve been to the doctor I don’t hurt that bad in my back, or "kidney" it’s a slight ticklish feeling every now and then I have no blood in my urine for the last 7000 trips to the bathroom, and it doesnt sting, and I’ve had this back pain or "kidney" for along time, but the doctor said they found some blood in my urine, but it’s commen. So do I have a damn kidney stone or not? I’m tired of drinking all this shit. I think I’m going to throw up if I see anymore fucking cranberry shit. lmao, so does this sound like a damn kidney stone? or a fucking urinary track infection? These fucking hillbilly rednecks in Tenneessee don’t know shit. >_<; They’re giving it 2 days. -.-; and if they find anything they’ll let me know -.-; (i’m a 17 year old male!)

My symptoms started right after new years, I am always tired, muscle&joint pain, headache, mild fever, chills, diarrhea and constipations (switches back and forth), right abdominal pain right under my rib cage and mild back pain on my right side.I also dont feel like eating and I have lost a lot of weight, say 5-10lbs.

About a month ago, I got my tongue pierced, I have since taken it out but it was done at a cheap place and the lady didnt sanitize. My additional concerns include, unprtected sex. my bf didnt use a condom but he did not bust in me.

I have had my period but it was a darker color and lighter than usual.I didnt have a heavy flow. It lasted 3-4 days. I have taken preg test and it has come out negative twice.

I also have been diagnosed with kidney stones and was on painkillers about a month ago.

I am scared to go to the doctor because my parents think im a virgin. im scared theyll find out. I can’t pay for the doctor myself so my parents are COMING IN with me.

I had alot of back pain and blood in my urine about a week ago and went to the doctor. Had two kidney stones, one small and one 8mm. Doc referred me to a urologist about the 8mm one because he said I could not pass it.

However in the meantime, my pain seems to have dissipated. No more blood in my urine and I no longer need the lortabs he gave me. I am positive I did not pass the stone, as I have been straining my urine and only passed a few minuscule sediment which I assumed to be the first small stone. The last pain I had was the norm, back pain and pain in what I think is the tube from my kidney to bladder, that area felt very uncomfortable for the past few days.

My mother told me that I would have some relief when the stone got to my bladder but I cannot find anything online that states that as fact. My appointment with the urologist is not until Friday, today is Wednesday.

Just curious if I might have passed it without knowing or it broken up or perhaps the bladder relief is true.

Thanks for any answers!

It tore a bit of lining apparently on it’s exit because I passed a small bit of redness to a tissue. No pain now whatsoever until I urinate and then it stings for the duration and then about 30 seconds afterward, then I’m back to normal. I just need to know if there is anything I can take over the counter, or homeopathically. Thanks, and sorry for the gory detail!
Back pain? Did I say back pain? I’m talking urethra here!!

My son is three years old and has been experiencing random bouts of back pain for approximately 10 months.

The pains come very quickly and go equally fast but last anywhere between 1 and 15 minutes. Massaging his back seems to help and the tendency over the last few months has been for the length of the attack to shorten. On average he has these attacks 3 or 4 times a month and they can happen at anytime day or night (very occasionally). We have charted the time and circumstances around each attack and been able to find no common factors or causes.

The pain is located in the lower/mid part of his back around the spine and is often accompanied by a very tight tummy and a red face. He has no other symptoms or health problems other than Eczema and is otherwise a very healthy and energetic three year old.

He was referred to hospital on two occasions by our paediatrician and each time they performed a wide range of tests. Initially they thought it could be kidney stones so looked at kidney function via blood/urine/ultrasound and found nothing and sent us home. The second time they did 24hr urine collection, 24hr ECG, heart ultrasound, stomach/intestine/liver ultrasounds, EEG for testing epilepsy as well as numerous blood tests and urine tests and found nothing at all wrong with him. Additionally he has seen a Craniologist and a Orthopaedic practitioner and again, nothing untoward.

The doctors seem to have run out of ideas but we are not happy to just let it continue. It is very difficult to see your child in pain and to do so with absolutely no explanation is causing my wife and I a vast amount of worry.

Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Karl

I went to the doctor on the 22nd of August and they found a 1.2 centimeter stone in my right kidney. They could not deal with it that day, but put a stint in my kidney to help with the pain. The next two days the pain got worst and the doctor’s office when calling thought I was having heart issues. I tried to tell them I have bad back pain in my kidney region and it was affecting my whole body. On Tuesday, the lady at the clinic said see your regular doctor, who pushed me off to emergency ward, which after 2 hours of pain and waiting, I left. Well, the pain got worst and the next day I went again. Finally, they gave me something for the pain and saw blood in my urine. I had been passing blood since my stint placement on Friday in my urine. They gave me some good pain meds and all day Thursday I was a veggie in bed. I did stop taking my pain pills at 12;30 am this morning because of a headache and the back pain was gone and still is gone. They did do a X-ray on that Wednesday and found two stones or the big one blew up into two now. I’m not sure. I don’t have blood in my urine any more, but I have bad head pains, nauseous, unable to eat, sweating all the time, and my eyes hurts, mainly my right side of my head. Any clue? Blood clot from the surgery on Friday for the stint? Brain Tumor? It’s all in my head? Or my heart, which I think that nurse was wrong?

Thank you for your time.
