Okay folks, let me start from the beginning. A week ago yesterday mother nature had already come for a visit (aka, my period) and also in addition to that I had experienced my first Kidney Stone ever…
I am a 32 year old woman, so I didn’t know what was what, I kept feeling pain at first but passed it off as a menstrual cramp. Nothing I was taking helped. The pain would come and go in waves until Tuesday of last week I had had enough and went t the ER. They Catscan’d me and all that good stuff, they said they couldn’t see the stone but saw evidence that it was there. They gave me morphine and a script for Vicodin and sent me home.
less that 18 hours later, I experiment pain VERY differently and I was SCREAMING, almost called 911.. went back to the ER at 3 AM and they said I had a kidney infection and was shocked and floored that the doctor during the first ER visit did NOT put me on antibiotics… for 3 hours there bey 6 AM they had apparently flushed out the infection with was apparently in it’s final stages.. and sent me home.
Now, everyone, I am left scared here, I never want to have to go through that again… even after the 2nd ER visit, after the infection and stone were declared gone, was still SORE and sleeping round the clock for almost 3 days, thanks to Vicodin.
So, first I do not understand why I was in sore discomfort even after the stone and infection were gone… It blew my mind… why?
and 2. I don’t want this to happen again, everyone told me it was NOT my fault it had occurred but told me to help prevent another by drinking more water. They told me kidney stones are made of Calcium, so okay, I have MS and my doctor has me on a Vitamin D/Calcium supplement, and I wonder now… by me having to take THAT for my MS, am taking more calcium, could that have been the cause of the kidney stone since I was told that they are formed of calcium…?
It is as easy as drinking water to help prevent another stone…?
Was it my fault that I had one cause I didn’t drink enough water?
Why was I hurting with soreness after stone and infection were gone…?
And do taking Calcium supplements encourage the production of stones?
This is a long involved question and I am sorry if anyone gets confused… but my mind won’t stop racing with these thoughts, can anyone put my mind at ease?
