My 10-year old dog, (un-neutered male rottie-shepherd X) had blood in his urine and I took him to the vet. They said he had crystals in his urine and to give him Novomoxin (4 tabs/day for 10 days). He finished his meds 2 days ago but he still had some blood in his urine! We went back to the vet and urine was tested. Vet said that he may possibly have kidney stones (X-Ray sched. tomorrow) and that he should get neutered as well.
Vet said the UTI was caused from lack of proper nutrition in dog food. I have been feeding him Natural Balance Potato & Duck (wet mixed with dry) for OVER 1 YEAR so my questions are:
1: Is the above food is not nutritious enough for him/low quality to cause the UTI (or any other health problems)?
2: Why is this happening now??
3: What exactly should a dog be eating for optimal health? Vet recommended Royal Canin, Eukanuba, Science Diet & ProPlan but I think there are too many by-products/additives and I want my dog to eat the healthiest food.
Please help!

I’ve had a pretty difficult past few yrs. I was in 2 year relationship and I found out I was pregnant. When I was 3 months pregnant I found out that my best friend took advantage of me when I was drunk. ( I should have been more responsible). His sister e-mailed me and told me that her brother told her that my baby might be his. I told boyfriend about it and he stood by myside. Then on Christmas eve he broke up with me. Minding you I just turned 9 months. He blew me off for the rest of the time but only went with me to my prenatal visits. 3days before my son was born he started dating this girl from work. And kept lying to me about he just needed to to himself. A couple days later we tooka paternity test and found out that he was not the father. I was devistated and went into a form of depression. I was so blinded by everything that he would tell me after that with all the " I Love You’s" & the "I dont want to be with her" and messing with my head, he continued to have a whenever-he- felt-like-it- relationship with me. Then I became pregnant by him and he had me have an abortion because he didnt want it and I couldn’t take care of another child. But by the time i went to have the procedure done, i have an ectoptic pregnancy and had to have the procedure done regardless. Then few months later I met my husband. At first we didnt look at each other in any sexual kind of way since we both just came out of pretty bad relationships. The first week we talked non-stop, about anything and everything. He fell in love with my son from the day he met him. 2 months later we got married. Everything happened so fast. From the time we got married my husbands help went down hill. We got married in September. In september he found out he had kidney stones, October Pnemonia, November atrial fibulation (which is very rare in a 24yrs old.) December, upper respiratory infection that lasted 2weeks. January his Gerd and acid reflex was really bad. April he had another upper respiratory infection and found out he has asthma. This monday he just had surgery because he had an inguinal hernia. in December he got laid off from work. And we had to move back to my parents house in April, (due to financial problems.) July he decided to go back to school for his Bachlors’ in Business Management & got his job back working part-time. I just graduated from Medical Assisting and got my diploma last months. I can’t afford daycare so I can work or have anyone in my family that can watch him until I can find a daycare i can afford. Then being a first time mom while my sons going through his teribble two’s at one, and getting spoiled by my parents. I still havent found a job yet. Then my husband is also a rapper and put his dreams aside and decided that now is the time to start. He’d leave the house at 8′oclock and wont come back until 4 in the morning. I dont know what to do. My family tells me thats not good, and i trust & love him but have second thoughts. Can anyone give me advice on how to cope with stress?

My friend and I were debating on whether or not if a man has passed a kidney stone or more that it will make him better in bed. I say no, she says yes. The only relation I see is that the stone comes out through their penis & they use their penis during sex. She says if a man has passed a stone, he can get an erection faster & stay harder longer. 17 years old – male – bladder / urethral stinging & urine urgency.

Hi,

For the past few years i’ve been dealing with this issues. Recently, I was admitted to the ER at my local hospital where they took numerous blood & urine tests and cultures. They also did an MRI on abdominal and lower back area.

My symptoms consist of:
- Bladder overall stinging
- Urgency & frequency in urination
- Urethral burning (even when rubbed).
- The feeling of never feeling relieved.
- Short streams, hard to start a stream at times.

I AM NOT SEXUALLY ACTIVE. Still a virgin. Never have done drugs.

The hospital reported:
- NO infections appeared in blood OR urine.
- NO kidney stones ANYWHERE were detected.
- Prostate size appeared normal.
- Found small traces of blood in urine.

As a result they prescribed the following medications: Cippro & Pyridium

Well, I have long since run out of the pyridium and I just ran out of the antibiotic cippro and only slight relief has occured after taking these medications for a week.

Do you have any idea what might be causing this?

I am 24yrs and during or around my monthly period I get a kidney infection. This has been the case for at least 6months. 4weeks ago i was admitted to hospital and was there for 3 days being treated for suspected kidney stones. Havent had CT scan yet although they did find an echo on my left kidney and i had all the symptoms of kidney infection, as well as testing positive for all kinds of bacteria in my urine..I havent passed any stones as yet.
I started my period again yesterday and woke up this morning with the start of another infection… have been to see my gp who is just contradicting what the hospital have said and didnt prescribe me with any antibiotics so looks like im going to be back in a&e tomorrow when it progresses! no one can explain why the infection kick starts on or around my period and i would just like some other suggestions??!!

My dog is a 9 year old Pug and weighs 21 lbs. We just took him to the Vet and we found out he has a few kidney stones. The surgery is ,000 and we can not afford it right now.

I drink a gallon of water every day, at least try to. By the way that is only 8 bottles of water (exactly, I tested it) & 8 glasses of water is the recommended amount of water to drink per day, or so I hear from sesame street.

Anyway, I want to put a little lemon juice in my water each day, can that be bad? I just want to get one lemon, & squeeze all the juice out of it, into my water. No sugar, no syrup nothing. Just lemon.

at the end of october, my bf had a kidney stone. apparently it wasnt his 1st either. he is older than i am, im only 21. i remember i could hear him scream when he passed it. they made him piss into a strainer that fit on the toilet. when he finally did pass it, after seeing it & how big it was, i cant believe a man could pass something so big and hard through his penis, no wonder he screamed when it came out. anyways, now that i recently found out that im pregnant. ive heard some people say that passing a kidney stone for a man is like childbirth. my bf said that i should prepare for a lot of pain & that i may want to hurt him in the delivery room, he said he based this off his ex-wife when she had their kids. he said its not meant to scare me, but is telling me the truth based off his experiences. I’m 23 and recently found out that I’m pregnant. My bf is older than I am and already has kids from before. I’m worried about childbirth and how painful it will be. when my bf had a kidney stone attack, he had called me to take him to the ER. he was w/ his 7 yr old son & he was laying on a picnic table in horrible pain. After they diagnosed him w/ 2 stones. they gave him a hospial room, I spent the time waiting w/ his son who was wondering what was wrong with his dad. the room had a private bathroom to it & when the nurse brought him a strainer to pee in, he said this is the worst part. 4 weeks ago I began to experience right side abdomonial pain. A urinalysis revealed blood & bacteria & I was diagnosed with a kidney infection. I took Levaquin for 10 days. Symptoms improved but did not completely go away. After 2 weeks another urinalysis indicated blood but no infection; an x-ray showed kidney stones. I was referred to a urologist & had an ivp. After reviewing the x-ray & ivp results, the urologist advised that I had a kidney stone that was too big to pass & recommended lithotripsy…but this kidney stone is on the LEFT side…not the source of my pain! The pain that have been feeling has progressed & is occurring every night. I am virtually painfree during the day…but after about 4-5 hours of sleep…the pain awakens me from a sound sleep. After resting in a reclining position for 1-2 hours the pain subsides. I have made no correlation to eating habits & my OB/GYN ruled out anything in the pelvis…not surprising as the pain is up higher under the ribcage.

I have a long history of stones plus 2 surgeries. I recently ended up at the ER with left flank pain suggesting possible stone, the ER Doc gave me only Ketoralc then got a CT which showed a stone in the top left lobe. The ER Doctor told me & my Mom she didnt know what was causing the pain & that she was 100% sure that it wasnt from the stone because she said that stones in the kidney do not cause any pain! I explained to her that I have had lots of stones, UTI’s which always turn into a full blown kidney infection & I’ve had 2 kidney surgeries & the ER Doctor still told me there was no way the stone was causing the pain. Please give me your input!

i exercise at least 3 times a week (mix of weights & cardio). i would like to lose a decent bit of body fat (5 kilos/10-12 pounds/1 stone). i have 2 months until i go on holiday

my diet is generally healthy.

so my questions are:
should i go to a more protein based diet? kidney beans, turkey meat etc as well as some pasta dishes as usual are my plan.
will i notice a big difference in this time frame of 2 months?
should i increase my exercise levels?

I’ve just had a "thing" with Dalmatians for quite a while. Recently I have declared my double major in Fire Science and Emergency Medical Science which has only heightened my interest in adding one to my family. I am currently a 19 year old sophomore currently obtaining my degree(s) I work 24 hour shifts at the local EMS, but have 3 days off after each day worked so I have plenty of time to spend with my dog should I get it. When I am working, my mother (Yes, I do still live with my parents but I am in the process of getting my own house) or my girlfriend have agreed to watch it.

I just want to know about them. I know that a large percentage of them are born deaf, and that they need special diets or they will develop kidney stones easier than any other breed. But what I want to know is, are they territorial? Because I also have a purebred female malamute here and she is very nice and loves everyone. Also, are Dalmatians harder to train than other dogs? Would a Dalmatian be a good choice for a firefighter’s additional family dog? If so, she will have a loving home with a big backyard to run in, my mother is a vet tech so she will have all the medical care she needs, and she will have plenty of love and another playmate to run around with.

Also, I know this may sound corny but is it difficult to teach them the infamous, stop drop & roll trick?

So recently over the past 3 days my cat has been acting weird.
He cannot seem to urinate and sometimes there like droplets of red fluid. Now he’s like going anywhere he wants trying to urinate and he can’t seem to. Last night he spent the night in lying in his litterbox and this morning in a cardboard box. He seems so weak & I don’t know what to do. He doesn’t want to eat or drink anything. I just found him foaming at the mouth. :O

Are there any home remedies I can do to help him? And what could of caused this?
My parents don’t want to pay like 0 for a surgery/vet visit or anything.
I don’t know if this helps but my dad sometimes lets him out to explore the backyard on a leash. Plus my mom fed him the leftovers in a tuna fish can. Can overfeeding him also be a factor?

He’s like 2 years old.
This has happened before like a week ago before this. We gave it this medicine we bought from this asian medicine store and he was cured.

Now it’s up again..

About a year ago, I had a gallstone attack for the first time. I am in my 30’s. I went to the ER; ultrasound found a single gallstone. I think the report said it was 5mm. They recommended a low fat diet & gallbladder removal surgery (cholecystectomy).

That was a year ago. Since then my weight decreased from 190 to under 160 due to diet change & increased exercise. Since my original attack, I have had attacks about every other month (7 attacks), none as severe. My last attack was 3 months ago.

I scheduled surgery for early next month. I’m wondering, however, if there are any scientifically demonstrated alternatives to surgery. I have done research & have read about lithotripsy & actigall:
