Is the Atkins or low carb diet safe?
I was on the Atkins diet and I loved it. I ate lots of meat and vegetables. I didn’t miss sweets, and I lost 52 pounds in 6 months without having to work out (although I know I should have been exercising).
I talked to several people who are in the medical field and they were saying that it is unhealthy; that I could develop kidney stones or worse. I got off the diet, and later gained all the weight back plus some. At the time I didn’t have medical insurance, so I couldn’t get checked out by a doctor.
I eventually got insurance and went to the doctor. My doctor said that there was nothing wrong with Atkins as long as I drank plenty of water.

Atkins does make you lose weight fast but as soon as you get off of it ( no diet lasts forever) then you gain the weight right back and then some. Plus how healthy does eating bacon, eggs and other meat all the time sound? Carbs are used for energy in your body. A lot of people I know who were on it felt like shit.
