Is a urinary tract infection curable at home?

Urinary Tract Infections
I recently contracted UTI (less than 24 hours ago), but I really don’t have time to go to a store any time soon and purchase the antibiotics/pills. I read on several other websites that drinking plenty of water and Vitamin C will help with the infection. If I do these things or try other home remedies, will it cure the infection, or do I have to pay a visit to the pharmacy to get rid of it? How soon do I have to cure it before it gets serious?

you cannot cure a UTI with over the counter drugs.
UTI’s are caused by bacterial infection and the ONLY way to get rid of this type of infection is to take antibiotics. AND antibiotics are only made available to you by prescription… so see a doctor (Your doctor) to get proper advice. Do not trust internet strangers ** SMILE**
However, drinking water and cranberry juice (which alters the pH of urine) MAY help prevent the infection from becoming worse. But, by no stretch of the imagination can effeciently kill bacteria and cure an infection.
How long will it take for it to get worse/serious? Well, it depends on the person… the type of bacteria… and other factors. These types of ’simple’ infections can cause excrucitingly painful kidney infections (if you are lucky) as well as can cause DEADLY blood stream infections.
… i will share a story. My aunt was admitted into the hospital with bacterial meningitis (ie. bacterial brain infection)… her doctor do not know WHERE it came from but suspect that it was caused by a UTI that spread…
don’t take chances with your life… it is imperative that you seek appropriate treatment.

Make getting the prescription your top priority. The problem will just get worse otherwise, as there aren’t any home remedies that work, which is why you have the Rx to begin with.
Cranberry concentrate pills are good for prevention, but they won’t cure it.

It’s not like a time bomb, with only 24 hours till you’ll have to go to the doctor. Drinking lots of water (or, better, cranberry juice) can flush out the infection if it’s not very bad (I’ve done this several times). However, if it won’t go away in a couple days (or until you can’t stand having to pee every 15 minutes) you should just make time to head over to the doctor to get some antibiotics (and honestly, the sooner you get on those the better).
