I was told I have ovarian cysts…what do I do now?
I went to my local ER the other night bcause I was having really terrible back pain and felt like my whole body was going to explode when I peed. I thought for sure it was a kidney stone. While I was there they did a cat scan and told me it was a stone and a kidney infection. I was given some antibiotics and pain meds then told to see my regular doctor as soon as possible. So I went to my family dr the next day and she told me that a kidney stone was not the only thing they saw on the CT. It also says in the report that the right ovary has several large cycts. My dr told me to see my gyno within a week, and now I can’t get an appiontment that soon. I have noticed before they told me about the cysts that I have pain during and after sex, a lower backache all the time, and I constantly feel like I have a bladder infection…that really awful buring sensation. Are those symptoms coming from these cysts? What should I expect when I do get to see my gyno?

ovarian cysts are painfull. i’ve had a lot before i was put on birth control for it. they will usually go away if they are small enough. i had to have surgery because my cysts were big. i got perscribed medication from the ER and they helped the pain. but try to get an appointment at your OBGYN ASAP.

Your back pain is not coming from any cysts, they are caused by pinched muscles in your back and getting them during sex makes sense for you can have your back in a position to cause the pain to flare up. You have to release the muscles in your back to get rid of that pain and then you have to figure out the rest from there. Here’s how to release the muscles in your back to get rid of that pain:
Back:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly press on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

Cysts are usually caused due to hormonal imbalances, which is why birth control usually helps women that get them. Google up "Rosedale diet". It’s a diet by Dr. Rosedale meant for women with Polysystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). It’s like an atkins low-carb protein diet, except it focuses less on saturated fatty proteins, and more on mono & poly unsaturated fatty foods… like fish, nuts, olives, olive oil, advocado’s, etc. It’s a no-carb / low-carb diet. Carbs & sugars can really throw your hormones out of whack. And the lack of good fish oils can also cause problems. Some folks do well on his diet as-is, but some folks need to reduce their fat content as well. EG: some folks can eat lots of nuts and such and do great, but others need to focus on more lean proteins like fish rather than nuts. Either way, cutting out the carbs will help. Kidney stones can also form due to hormonal imbalance, eating too much dairy (calcium) and not enough magnesium (green veggies).
As for your current cysts, if they’re very big your gyno may recommend surgery. I’d first discuss following the Rosedale diet with your gyno, though. You want to avoid surgery as much as possible. If it’s life-threatening, then sure, do surgery…but too many docs are too eager to cut folks open these days. Before your doc puts you on birth control or surgery, ask that your gyno merely monitor you for a month or two while you try that Rosedale diet. Do it RELIGIOUSLY…make a very concerted effort to follow it. If after a month or two your gyno’s tests show there’s no improvement, then switch to an alternate treatment. But using diet to treat issues is the best thing you can try first.
