I only have one-two bowel movements a week. When I do go, my tummy hurts?

Kidney Stones Prevention
This has been for most of my life. But I have been told that this isn’t normal. How many should you have a week? Sometimes I only have 1 a week. In those cases it HURTS my tummy when I do finally go. How can I fix this with out taking laxitives and stool softeners? Can taking those cause long term damages?
What about diet? I only drink water, due to kidney stones.
I do "try" but nothing, and I mean NOTHING, happens. I have to wait for it to hurt before something moves. I’ll try more water.
I am in my mid 20’s.

Medically speaking, the definition of constipation is having fewer than three bowel movements per week. A lot of people believe that it’s important to have a bowel movement every day, but in reality there isn’t any medical reason why that’s necessary. Most doctors consider anything between three times a day and three times a week "normal".
The really important thing is what’s normal for YOU. If having a bowel movement is actually painful, it might be a good idea to see a doctor. But in the meantime, you might want to try something mild and simple like a fiber supplement (like metamucil, but there are store brands that are cheaper and just as effective). They’re bulk-formers that make you produce softer waste that passes easier through the colon. They’re generally really safe to use, and it could solve your problem.
Be careful about taking stimulant laxatives (like Ex Lax, for example). They’re safe in general, but it’s best to try other solutions first.

Drink a lot of water and eat more fiber. Fruits and vegetables and whole grains.

I go (or try to go) every day. It may hurt because straining to push so much "stuff" that has built up in your lower intestines over 3-4 days is a real shock to your system.
You should really try to go every day.

Fiber. Lots of fiber. You don’t say how old you are, but, with a history of kidney stones, there could be something else going on. Have you talked with a doctor?
Mineral oil or castor oil make pretty good, non chemical laxatives.
