Urinary Tract Infections
Hi I was just wondering if a urinary tract infection could cause pain in my lower right abdomen?. The pain seems to only be on the right side on the edge of my hip directly across my pubic bone. Help I need answers!!! Thank you!

I don’t think I’ve never heard of that as a symptom of a UTI. The most frequent symptoms are frequent and painful urination, but I’m sure different people experience different symptoms. I think you should get your answers by seeing your doctor right away.

Yes more than likely it is a UTI! I had 3 while pregnant and they thought it was my appendix. because it was on my right side….

I have never had an infection..so I don’t know the symptoms.. but with how early you are… could it possibly be an ectopic preg… call your Dr to make sure.

I had a UTI… there was only pain for me when I peed and right after. I never had any pain in my ab.. but that definitely doesn’t mean it can’t be connected.

The main thing that you would notice first, I believe, would be a burning sensation when you pee or at least a "pressure" when you pee. If you’re not having that, I would definitely get to the doctor to see what they think it is. Best of luck to you!

I have chronic UTIs from a structural defect so I have experienced so many of the symptoms.
For me I usually have some back pain and cloudy urine – but it never really burns when it comes out – I’ve only experienced that a few times. However, UTIs can have so many symptoms – pain is one. Pain when urinating, blood in urine, cloudy urine, smelly urine, urge to urinate frequently but not much comes out….
The best thing to do is go to your doctor. I had one at 22 weeks with no symptoms – it was only discovered when I was having pre-term contractions and had to be hospitalized. They need to be treated with antibiotics.

I had one also while pregnant, they are very very common. Most pregnant women will get them while pregnant with no symptoms at all, i didnt have any, but my urine test showed I did, you will just take a pill twice a day for a week and it should be gone. If you have symptoms they might be burning when you pee, having the urge to pee but nothing happens, discoloration of the pee or smell.
Im sure you have taken a urine test so far, everyone does at the dr when your pregnant so they will proscribe you something, if not then tell them to test you.

I had one once and I remember feeling like I had to constantly use the bathroom. It felt like my bladder was full ALL the time and it burned when i did go.

That could be a symptom of one. I just found out I have a UTI, and I have no symptoms at all, they discovered it during a routine urine test. If you think you have one, you will have to go to the doctor and get tested for it, they will give you an antibiotic.

hi, i’m 17 weeks pregnant, and i had a dr. appt. yesteday, and he found blood in my urine. it doesn’t burn when i pee, but he said it looks like a uti, and he’s running a culture test. but, i’m having pains exactly as and where you described, and he said if it’s not a uti, it could be a kidney stone, and to keep myself well hydrated, just in-case, because the only time passing a kidney stone hurts is if it stops. but he did say it looked more like a uti. hope this helps. good luck with your pregnancy!!
