Haunted house? No joke. Has anyone ever heard of this?
Lived here over four years. My wife and I are 62 and expect some physical problems, but were never seriously ill or had any serious problems before moving in. House is old, built 1892. Divided into 2 separate apartments at some point, probably the 70s. No lead paint or anything like that. I Live upstairs, full 2 bedroom apt. Not bad, clean. Family downstairs has been moved in a little before we did. Here’s the problem. Everyone down there has become ill. Different things, serious back and joint problems with husband, psychotic episodes with wife. It’s been one thing after another. They’re young, 40, and nice people. The same type of stuff started occurring with wife and I two years ago. High blood pressure (230/120) for me when I finally checked it, high cholesterol. Several back pain. My wife started losing her vision and we found she had cataracts. Did the surgery and though her vision is good left eye still bothers her. She woke up one morning two years ago with sever pain in the shoulder. They did everything to her for months and nothing was found. She’s never been overweight and has never used sugar or drank soft drinks. Eats a real healthy diet, but was diagnosed with diabetes and high cholesterol 2 weeks ago. The month before that I had to take her to emergency room for high heart beat (191) They fixed it with a special shot that re-regulates the heart. I developed kidney stones over the last several months, and three weeks ago woke up with a swollen knee. It’s super painful and I can hardly walk, but I absolutely did not injure it. It was just there in the morning just as my wifes shoulder. Here’s the point. A few months after we moved in I found myself looking at the stairway that leads down to the front door and thinking of a little girl. It sounds crazy but it seemed I could see or at least clearly imagine her. She’s about eleven and sits at the bottom of the stairs. I think she does come up here but only at night. She didn’t frighten me and until all this illness, that just keeps coming, I got no bad feelings. I mentioned to my neighbor and he said he was positive this place was haunted. Until last week I took none of it very seriously, however, my brother in law, who is a minister and who I haven’t seen in ten years visited. He took one step in the door and looked at me and said, "Do you know this place is haunted?" He is a very honest and down to earth man. I answered I did and we didn’t discuss beyond me saying I didn’t feel it was anything bad. Strangely the woman who lived here before us died shortly after moving, as did the woman who lived downstairs before the current neighbors moved in. One other thing that was odd was my best friend visited one day two years ago. We had coffee and at some point he said he wasn’t feeling well. He ended up in the hospital that night with a heartbeat of over two hundred and the same symptoms my wife subsequently suffered. My question is can places be bad? Has anyone ever heard of something like this associated with a house, or is this just my imagination from all these problems. I would appreciate any sincere comments. Thanks
Thanks to everyone for the thoughtful answers. It seems more and more obvious that there is little to lose in moving from here and possibly much to gain. Thank you again.

Yes, places can be bad. You need to get out of there. Others will advise attempting to exorcise the place or tell you that it’s your imagination. I think it should be pretty clear to you by now that the latter is not a rational judgment. This does not sound to me like it’s something you can easily banish from the house.
I really think you should move.
You can try protecting yourself for now: Get some holy water. Put a stripe or the shape of a cross with the water on each other’s foreheads every day, also the same on palms and backs of the hands and center of the chest. Paint stripes of it diagonally across your doors and/or the door frames, both the main door and the interior room-to-room doorways.
Once again, I really think you should move. This is not a trivial kind of problem. You’re clearly risking your health and your wife’s health. It’s worth the expense. Get out of there.

no way this is a coincidence. but there could be two options:
one is that there is a ghost or there is a type of haunting. case closed.
another is that there is some1 there that is poisoning every1, and the poison ill harm you, and then when people are moving, the person puts
i doubt it tho, unless theres something valuable in the area
deadly poison and kills them to mimic a haunting. but that wouldn’t explain your brother, if what u said was true. i say poison because i read a book kinda like this, where a monster mimicked illnesses by poisoning, so that no one would go near important people, or people who knew of the monster. this way it could live on and its master could continue his plans. just a theory

Yes, places can be bad and haunted (not necessarily the same thing). Most times I’ve found "hauntings" to be exaggerated by people who enjoy attention, but yours doesn’t sound like that.
Have you talked further to your brother in law? I’d start with him since he’s a minister and see if he has any suggestions for dealing with this.
If he doesn’t then I would look up the new age/ occult/ pagan groups in your area. Most of these people are actually pretty nice and down-to-earth. And many of them have a pretty good awareness of the supernatural. Be wary of anyone who wants to charge you more than it costs them to help you. Not all people who charge are scams, but many are
.
If it were me, I would start by trying to get a feel for the spirit in the house. It doesn’t sound like a spirit that wants appeasing, rather like one that likes to hurt you or wants you gone. Spirits that want appeasing can often be negotiated with, but the other kind need to be removed and/or entrapped.
It’s hard to explain how to DO this kind of thing since it’s pretty intuitive and situation specific. And a lot of it will make you feel pretty embarrassed and probably kind of stupid if you try it yourself and that will negate it’s effectiveness (belief and confidence count for a lot). Not a lot of people are comfortable standing in the middle of a room chanting and waving an incense bundle and ritual knife around
Find some help in your area!
Good luck and take care!

You should have your brother in law come and pray over the house. Demons have the power to cause harm to humans only they are unsaved. If you are a son of GOD and truly believe JESUS died on the cross for your sins and you have givin your life to him then you are saved! Goasts are not real only demons. They have no power over you if you are saved, and that little girl you are seeing is a demon. next time you see her say IN THE NAME OF JESUS I DEMAND YOU LEAVE. You might be afriad of what will happen, but try not to be. IT will leave, if you say that!

My mother is a deeply religious woman, and very sensitive to these types of things (much like your brother-in-law).
Once in our old house she saw a shadow of a man near my bedroom door at night and she felt an eerie chill. She turned the light on and no one was there. Mind you, she is a very serious woman and telling stories are not her thing, so I’ve never doubted the validity of her story. Anyhow, we later came to find out that the previous owners used that very room as an altar or a witchcraft room, which explained a lot.
I do believe that places can "be bad", but I also believe they can be cleansed or blessed. I would suggest you talk to your BIL, and request help blessing the house and everyone in it. If you are too shy, then maybe try another minister in your area.
I’m sure many will people will disagree with my suggestion, but better safe than sorry I say!

I’m very sorry about your medical problems. I really think you guys should move. You can do a cleansing but it sounds like a demon. Just move and the best of luck to you both.

Well I don’t knows if houses can be bad but land can. A lot of spirits are connected to the land not the place itself but your house is rather old so it probably has some history to it and some of it may not be pleasent. Some things you can do is find out the history of the house. You said you think a little girl is in your house right? Well she may not be bad but she could be scared of another spirit which may be why she only comes up at night. You cna try talking to her she may not know she is causing problems if she is. So some times maybe before nightfalls Stand at the top of the stairs (I wouldn;t suggest going to down to talk to her ) And say I don’t know your name but you are free to stay but please stop making us sick. Beinga little girl she might stop or if you wnat her gone ask her to leave if systoms persist then you might want to get your part blessed, You can’t get an exorcism with out an ok form the cathlioc churcha nd i think they check with the vatican. You cn also try smuding I don;t knwo hwo but you cna find out how online. I hope this helps and you get better.

You need to have your water tested. I know that seems silly, but it would explain a lot.

You might check with the minister to bless the house.
Since you have checked with the doctor:
The Catholic Church has a blessing ritual for houses. Perhaps invite a Catholic priest and pay a stipend for his visit.
Another thing to do is visit a Catholic Church and acquire some holy water and sprinkle it around the house occasionally. But having a person who prays deliverance prayer is best.

In my opinion new age is of the devil and will only cause more trouble in the long run away from it.
