In my opinion, the pain of the kidney stone is worse. Plus it takes days instead of hours, and you don’t get presents.

I have given birth, but never passed a Kidney Stone. I would imagine passing a stone to be worse. Giving birth, for me, was no where near as painful as everyone says it is. ( Maybe I am just lucky)

They say that it compares to giving birth!!

I have given birth to 3 children and nothing has ever felt like that before. I don’t think so. Kidney stones are a different kind of pain.

I really don’t know since I’ve done neither, but I would think for a guy passing a stone would hurt pretty bad. Their equipment isn’t made to expand like ours.
Giving birth I think would be more painful – simply due to size and space. I mean, many women tear a little.

No. Not by a long shot.

I worked with a woman who gave birth 3 times and passed 2 stones. She said if the stones had taken longer it would have been comparable. She also said childbirth is worse because you’re not worried about killing the stone while you’re giving birth. Still, how much pain has that woman been through? Yikes.
Ablex, my daughter took 76 hours and I died for a couple of minutes, according to my obgyn. I’d personally rather pass a stone. I think women who have easy childbirth would probably rather pass another baby, lol.

It’s meant to be about equal. I saw something on Tv where the man didn’t want his pregnant wife to have an epidural, but then he experienced a kidney stone and of course was begging for the mnorphine so thus changed his mind.
Although, the difference is if someone is passing a kidney stone from the ureter when they come to the hospital they can have the morphine. But if a woman is giving birth, an epidural is too late!! And the longest birth in history I think lasted 4 days…ouch!
Optimus, where ahve you studied biology? The only form of ‘drugs’ that can be used without killing the baby is an epidural but once labour has taken place it can’t be given. And the kidney stone passes down the ureter not the ureatha. You say a baby’s head is softer? Yet a kidney stone doesn’t tear the tube and make it bleed.
But the main thing optimus that you don’t know is it’s not teh vagina that causes the pain. Childbirth pain is caused by the stomach muscles contracting which is so painful.

Well, the urethra doesn’t expand even a bit. and a baby’s face is waay softer than a kidney stone. They rarely wash it down with drugs, as with they do with women giving birth.
Princess: whoa, sorry, you always learn something new. Anyway I get contractions when I don’t take a dump for a day or so, but as painful as they are, childbirth must be worse.

Haven’t experienced child birth yet. The pain of my kidney stone took me to the brink of passing out after shaking in pain. I don’t know why princess said a kidney stone doesn’t cut the tube and make you bleed, mine definitely did. The first thing they asked when I went in to confirm it was a kidney stone was if there was blood as that was a pretty definite sign of what was going on.

a couple friends of mine who have had both said that the kidney stone (without pain meds) was more painful that giving birth with an epidural…
as for natural childbirth… i’ve not heard…
(btw, there are other drugs such as demerol, staidol, etc that can be used in labor, and an epidural is actually recommended at 5 cm [half] dialation in order to not slow down labor; and labor for a first child is often 24 hours or longer)

I have had kidney stones but have never given birth. Kidney stones hurt but a couple of Tylenol (extra-strength) take care of the pain. Of course, giving birth is more painful!
