Kidney Stone Pain Questions
My husband is doubled-over with the pain from a kidney stone. He refuses to go to the ER but at the same time he needs some relief. He has taken pain meds but thats not working. Does anyone know of any home remedies for relief?

Drinking a lot of water helps for the pain.

I've had several kidney stones. A hot bath often helps take the edge off. If your bathtub has jets, sitting in the direct path kind of numbs the area and helps a bit too. Prayer is always a great idea during a kidney stone episode, especially.

hot baths or use a heating pad 20 minutes then ice for about 20 minutes…

I just recently read something about this!
Just can't remember if it was to drink MORE milk and consume more MILK products!
I know you need to drink MORE WATER! 100% Cranberry Juice is good for UTI – Urinary Tract Infections!
When the pain gets to the point of NO RETURN or you feel like you are going to DIE, Then he will GO TO THE ER!!!
Been there, done that with Gallstones! Those feel like you are having a HEART ATTACK And can't BREATHE!

There are little red pills that can be bought at any pharmacy over the counter. They are some kind of red dye and are specifically marked to end the pain of a kidney infection. They do not treat the kindey infection, just block the pain. I use them when I get a kidney infection, have a kidney stone, or a urinary tract infection. They are amazing.

I have gone through this. Pain meds do not help. The pain can reach the 10 level (as the stone passes). Try to remain calm, taking slow but full breaths. Drink plenty of cranberry juice, This will help desolve the stone. A fetal position may feel more comfortable, and ramain still. You may become naucios and feel like you are going to pass out. Get on the ground if this happens. You may pass several smaller pieces. There may be a small amount of bleeding. If persists for more than a day or so without passing, you should seek medical attention.

Tough it out with some good smoke or go to the clinic that offers ultrasonic shattering of the stones….

Knock him over the head, then drag him to the ER room. If it's that serious, it could leave lasting effects on his kidney. My grandfather had to get a kidney transplant because of a large kidney stone causing an infection in his kidney. If he refuses to go to the ER room, then like I said, knock him out.
It's only going to get worse, especially if it's as bad as you say.

Unless you have narcotics in the house, no. But ice might help. For whatever reason, I felt better when I was shivering. I just laid in front of a fan naked and eventually the pain stopped (for a while). By the same token, it's possible that applying ice directly to the painful area may not only help, but by making him cold and shivery, might help that way too.
EDIT: Huh, I never thought about using Uristat or similar drugs for that….it might be worth a short. Uristat is a painkiller used by those having cystitis symptoms. Because it numbs the urethra, it might provide some relief…..Uristat is just one brand of painkiller used for cystitis…there are others but this is the only kind I ever used. The pills are indeed red and will eventually turn urine orange. If your hubby wears contacts he should take them out because they can stain them. You can find these at your average drug store.
