Kidney Stone Treatment
…or can I use any home remedies to break them up before they drop?
I don’t want to damage my kidneys, but I have had a series of expensive medical / dental problems in the past year that are depleting my savings and I’d like to be able to hold off for a while. My kidneys hurt, but its bearable.

I’ve had Kidney stones, some will pass if they’re small enough, mine didn’t and woke me up one night in excruciating pain, i had to go to hospital and was given Morphine, i had to drink heaps of water after they released me and thankfully it passed when i peed, a guy at work had one for a month until it became unbearable, i think he said the doctors broke it up with some sort of ultrasonic device, you really should get it seen to soon, the bigger they get the more difficult it will be for them to break up.

DOCTOR NOW! Don’t let it get worse. My mom had them and had to have surgery. At least call the doctor to see what he thinks.

if it’s "bearable" then it’s probably not a kidney stone. maybe just a kidney infection. try drinking some cranberry juice and plenty of water.

You need to be seen by a doctor to determine what the problem is. Drinking cranberry juice is not a cure but it does help if you have a urinary tract infection. I have had kidney stones and I can tell you that the pain was anything but bearable, it actually cause me to have a seizure. (I was in the ER at the time) Kidney infections can be serious so please call your doctor today.

If it is bearable then you don’t need to go to the doctor yet. Drink lots of water and cranberry juice and maybe even take some cranberry pills. If this doesn’t help and it continues to get worse then seek immediate medical attention. http://www.webmd.com/kidney-stones/default.htm

Usually your kidneys will just pass the stones through urine and it is possible that if it is small enough it will come out eventually and your doctor can give you some medicine to help with the pain. However, if it gets too big the stone will get stuck and your doctor either will use a machine that produces shock waves to break it up or use a tiny instrument to break it up. You’ll probably know its stuck (excruciating pain) when you feel pain from your lower back and it moves to your abdomen. Make sure you drink lots of water (more water than usual), cut down on salt, and also eating meat (which contributes to the build up of stone)
