Kidney Stones Prevention
I recently had a catscan which revealed that I have a "small renal calculus", better known as a kidney stone. I passed one about 10 years ago and remember it like it was yesterday from the pain. I made an appt to see my dr. Is there anything I can do to prevent it? I heard that I should have it removed by laser? I do keep getting pains on my right side of my back, kidney area (BEFORE I even knew there was a stone in that kidney) but I’m not sure if anything will be done by my doctor. Any helpful advice would be so appreciated.

I have made more kidney stones than I care to think about. I’ve been cut open 3 times, and had a procedure called "extra caporeal shockwave lithotripsy" 4 times. I’ve also passed a bunch of them. So I know more about the damn things than anybody this side of a urologist should know.
Ask the urologist about the "lithotripsy" procedure. The put you to sleep, and using vibrations, they blast the thing into pieces the size of a grain of sand, which you can easily pass. And it’s usually an outpatient procedure.
As far as the cause, this matter seems to be in disagreement among medical professionals. I’ve heard that I shouldn’t consume milk or soda, or certain foods. But just drink lots of water, that will help some.
Sorry about the pain, believe me, I know what it’s like. For anybody who’s never had one, you can not imagine!

They can also "blast" it in a sound wave pool. Maybe? I have had it done. It helps then pass easier. Sounds like you need to speak with a nutrientlist to prevent some more.

Dear Sir,
Please do not worry. If the calculus is less than a centimetre in diameter it will dissolve out on its on, if you drink plenty of fluids, usually in a few weeks time. If you have additional infection (which some times can accompany) that would need antibiotics treatment.
Only if it is bigger than 1 cm then Lithotripsy would be a choice. Your GP can refer you to a Nephrologist or Urologist for that.
Stone much bigger than that some times need surgery.
I hope this would help.
Wish you best of health!

Go for the laser and you won’t have a problem or any side affects…
The laser burns it to a minimal scar and that ends it but for another scan a year later, preferably…
There is no cutting as a video probe is used…
Go for it…
