Before you say it,I already drink about a gallon of water and 2 large(30 ounce)glasses of lemon water each day.
I have had a couple that are large and many that are small(sand size).
They cause me pain and discomfort and even nausea and vomiting.
I have been to the doctor and all he does is give me pills and says to drink more and do what I already am doing.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ok so, i’ve had UTI before and it really wasn’t a big deal. Just go into the doctors office and they give me so antibiotics. Ta-da.
So, i started feeling a UTI coming on so i immediately started chugging away at some cranberry juice.
However, it got to a point where i couldn’t sit still and there was a pretty large amount of blood in my urine. Alot more then i remember from previous experiences. My doctors office was closed for the day so i called there ‘off duty doctor’ or whatever she’s called. I told her all of my symptoms: Lots of blood, lower back pain, blah blah. She perscribed to me some antibiotics as well as some stuff called Azo. She said the antibiotics were for a bladder infection, and that if i continued to have back pain, then it could be a kidney stone. I picked them up from my local drug store as soon as she called it in.
Its been about 2 days now. There is no more blood or the urgency to pee, so i guess thats a plus. On the flip side, it’s hard for me to get food down and i’m still having back pains. Not in my lower back, but more like in the upper/middle section. Its not unbearable pain for anything like that. Just soreness as if i slept on it wrong or worked out too much the previous day.
My question is, is this normal? Should i be worried? thanks in advance for all answers :)

I am a 23 year old female who is active duty navy. feb 2009 i passed my first kidney stone and the civilian hospital failed to tell me i had many more in both kidneys. 3 weeks ago i was diagnosed with a 4mm stone and last week was in the process of passing that one (it was in my bladder I COULD DEF feel it) when i was diagnosed with a 6mm stone that was stuck in my ureter, digging into the tissue walls and preventing urine to pass from my right kidney. blood test showed my kidney was starting to shut down. Portsmouth naval immediately admitted me for emergency surgery to put a stint in. *that was last wednesday* i accedently removed it sunday and 2 hours later was back in the ER with sever right flank pain *like another kidney stone*. Portsmouth told me i had roughly 10 stones in my right kidney and 6 in my left. if i miss my percocet my an hour im in extreme pain and no fever, AND it barely takes the edge off of the constant pain. they perscribed me Dilaudid *hydromorphine* and i get no pain from that but i get a fever between 101-104. *i can’t take tylonol with the Dilaudid bc its a hardcore narcodic. WHAT SHOULD I DO? portsmouth keeps strining me around that i’ll be fine but im in constant pain. im supposed to be back to work next tuesday but i can’t do my job if im on these pills (solder tech for anything computer in the FA 18’s) but im in excruciating pain if i don’t take the meds. OH and im supposed to do my bi anual physical fitness assessment in 2 weeks…. PLEASE HELP ME. i don’t know what to do.

….Protein powder/protein shakes? Cause I’m thinking about buying these for when after I workout

http://eas.com/product/100-pct-whey-protein-powder

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Eas-Myoplex-Lite-Chocolate-Fudge-11-oz-Ready-to-Drink-Dietary-Supplement-4-pk/10294428?findingMethod=rr

I’m a 14 years old girl and weigh 88lbs.. I DO eat..I just eat very healthy..and I really want to gain..My goal is to be 104lbs..But I wanna look fit at the same time..So I’m eating LOTS of protein and carbs, fruits and vegetables, dairy, etc

I workout 3 days a week (20 mins of cardio, 45mins/1hr strength training) And I wanna take protein..But I’m worried if its harmful for a petite girl like me

Also my mother has kidney stones, so I’m afraid if I use protein powder and also have a high protein diet. then I might get kidney stones as well..

What are your thoughts? I REALLY want to use it to gain muscle..What if I just use HALF a scoop? I need some kind of protein after my workouts

I have already went to the doctors…I would just like other people’s expieriences….

I am 28 weeks pregnant with my first.
I have had horible pain on the right side in the middle back (just under my ribs) for the past 5 days. I cant do anything to relieve the pain.

For the first couple of days I thought I had pulled a muscle and that I was just being a big baby about it, but when I realized that absolutly nothing was helping the pain I figured it had to be something else. With a pulled muscle after 5 days shouldnt heating pads, ice packs, massage and even a jacuzzi tub help!?

I went to the doctors and they suspect a kidney infection. I have had UTI’s in the past, but I have had no pain when urinating this time around and no fever or chills. Just horrible back pain and frequent urinating…

They put me on antibiotics and told me if in a couple of days the pain isnt up to 50% better to schedule a Ultrasound to check for kidney stones…

I have read that kidney stones can be more painful then childbirth…this is by far the most pain i have had for such a long time. (5 days)

So my questions are…
Can the doctors give me anything for the pain that is better then over the counter meds?
Is my expierience so far similar to anyone else’s?
If kidney stones are more painful then giving birth, could anyone associate giving birth to any other pain…like breaking a bone?

Thanks…

They had me do a UA, and they said it would take a couple of days because they had to do a culture? I think. The doctor said she is willing to bet on it, so she gave me antibiotics while we wait for the results.
I went to the ER last night and it ended up being a kidney infection. They actually gave me vicodin for the pain, so I feel alot better. Thanks to everyone for their answers.

I had a bout of severe pain 2 nights ago, and had to go to the ER. My kidney stone is around 6mm large, and I started taking pain meds once I got home. I had no further pain while on the meds. Today is the first day I haven’t taken the meds, and still no pain? Is this normal for kidney stone pain to come and go, or could this signify that the stone is already in the bladder? I have been urinating normally as well, and there don’t appear to be any more traces of blood.
I highly doubt I passed it. 6mm is like a quarter of an inch, or the length of the fingernail on your pinky, and I surely would have felt that. Hopefully, it’s already in my bladder. I’m afraid that it may not have left my kidney yet, and I haven’t really felt the worst of it, but I doubt it. It was excruciating for about an hour and a half.

I have a friend who has been suffering through a painful bout of stones passing through his urine for over two months. It is my understanding that when this occurs it is due to stones formed in the kidney or bladder. He has not been to a hospital or doctor’s office, he has been to a natural practitioner and has been taking herbs based on the diagnosis of " Morgans/Morgan’s/Morgenz parasite/s". I have searched online and can find nothing about this parasite. The practitioner he is seeing has a clinic and has over 40 years experience with many successful cases, so he is inclined to believe this is the cause of his illness. I am inclined to believe this as well, however, I cannot find anything online to back this up. His symptoms have included pain in the lower abdomen, loss of control over urine, passing stones and blood/blood clots. He has passed several stones over the last two months. Can anyone tell me anything further about this? Has anyone heard of this type of parasite or these symptoms?

My boyfriend and I rescued our 2 year old kitty, Winston from the humane society just about 2 years ago in September 2008. We went in to look at another kitty, and when we met Winston he immediately started talking to us, and came and sat down on my lap and started purring–he chose us. He was the greatest little kitty always happy, never hissed or growled…he thanked us every day for bringing him into our family and home.
About three weeks ago I noticed him licking his penis area a lot more… but he was still acting the same…I googled this, and didn’t find much, just that he must be frisky…but he is neutered and hasn’t really done that much lately… by the time i thought to take him to the vets to see what was going on, we were watching him closely the following week and he wasn’t peeing anywhere differently, wasn’t straining or having trouble peeing, and was no longer licking himself- as he was the week previous… ok, no need to take him to the vet, he wasn’t doing it anymore…

This week we went home to our parents and took our two kitties with us. My mom said Winston wasn’t licking or anything, he was peeing as far as she noticed… by Thursday I noticed he was back to licking himself, and was now growling… this is not normal for him, as I said that he has never growled…he accidentally peed on my bed at home, and i noticed there were a lot of white crystal-y things that looked like salt… I followed him to the litter box because he was still growling and licking, I stayed up with him for 5 hours till 6am, and i noticed that he was having trouble peeing in the litterbox, he only peed small amounts…
I decided to take him into the vets early in the morning, they did a urinalysis, gave him antibiotics, gave him amitriptyline for bladder spasms, and got him the Royal Canin Urinary SO diet. She told me at this point he could really go either way…for the better, or for worse…
We locked him in the bathroom by himself so we could monitor the litterbox, making sure it was fresh and clean, making sure that he was eating his wet Urinary SO cat food, the vet showed us how to help him express his bladder, and we did and it was helping him pee… he was still licking and growling, but sure he is to be irritated with struvite crystals in his bladder coming out his little urethra.. I stayed with him the Friday all day, and the Saturday he was looking better, came into our room in the morning for our morning cuddles, he was purring and peed in the bed… i figured he was just relaxed and peed! It went downhill form there, he wasn’t peeing, having his penis come out, and him growling.. i think it was really hurting him as he was trying to pass a crystal or possibly a stone..
I told my boyfriend if he didn’t pee by the morning we would take him into the vets… i woke up, went in to see how he was.. he didn’t pee, and by this time his bladder was pretty full looking.. i took him into the litterbox to see if he would pee…he got out, started growling, then puked up all his food from the day before… we paid the extra money to go to the emergency vets as it was now Sunday and the vet told us he was blocked… which i already knew at that point… she quoted us 00 for the overnight stay and without all the special stuff it was still going to be 00, that was just for his pain medications, bladder irrigation with a catheter… this is excluding him being in recovery for a week to monitor his kidney function and that he was peeing well… it was heartbreaking because we did not have the extra money to be able to pay for this… we are already in a little debt because of our careers and schooling… this was the most heartbreaking thing i had to ever do… I wasn’t too impressed with the vet at the emergency place, she was pushy and wouldn’t let me take my time with deciding what we were going to do… this was a big decision..
I called my mom, and we decided to get him a shot for his pain @ the emergency place and take him where we took him in the country (instead of the city where we were @ the emergency vets that wanted 0 to euthanize him..) we took him there and it was only 0… the vet there let us take our time, no big rush.. when we were ready… i know that he wasn’t in pain when it happend…but i am still second guessing myself as to why there arent’ places to help people with their pets… why i didn’t get insurance.. then i could’ve helped him… why i didn’t notice earlier and take him to the vets.. btu he was acting normal.. i knew nothing different… i just… its not fair and i keep thinking of ways i could’ve helped him before we got to this point…

Can someone answer these questions..why do you need to put an animal under anesthetic to insert a catheter when in a human being they do not need to be catheterized… I was hoping the vet could lightly sedate him and insert it… why do they want
It cut off my questions… anyway..i understnad that it sucks and there was nothign i could’ve done since i didn’t see the signs ahead of time… he was just my favourite kitty, we got lucky to have him, and have him be as awesome as he was!! i just wish i knew about this problem before hand.. and it didn’t have to come to this.. that’s all.. :(
Has anyone else had to put their pet down for money VS love? its not fair, and it sucks

In the last 3 years i have had 5 different times were ihave gotten kidney stones. I noticed a couple of weeks ago that I was having flank pain. And immediately I knew that I had a kidney stone. But I figured i would give it time to pass because i have been through all of this before. This past Thursday I was in such unbearable pain at work so I decided to go to the ER after work. There results from test they did were 1 tiny stone in the upper right kidney, a kidney infection, and a urinary tract infection. They told me however that it should not be causing me pain because the kidney stone is still in the top of my kidney and not in my ureter yet. So they sent me on my way with vicodin and NO antibioltics. I go to work on Friday still in terrible pain, but made it through my day. Saturday (today) I wake up and immediately vomit because of all of the pain. I was actually crying this time. I get some vicodin in me and it didn’t help. The pain was to much. So before I call out of work I called a different ER. and asked them that if I come in today if they would have a urologist on hand (because the other ER that I went to had no Urologist within 40 miles of them) before I waste my time driving up there. They said yes. So i get up there and they ask what medicines im on and i tell them vicodin and a couple other medicines I take for anxiety. I get into the ER. room and they do the blood test again and get my cat scan from the previous ER doctor and do a urine test, and hook me up with iv fluids. The nurse comes in and also states that he is giving me an Iv injection of pian medicine. There I wait for the pain to go away. I felt no different from before. A little while later the doctor comes in with an attitude and tells me that he is releasing me. I said ok well what did you find out. He tells me that i have several kidney stones in my upper right kidney and i should be feeling NO pain. And asked if I had an addiction to Vicodin. I chuckled and so No I just got the vicodin on thursday. He said well there is alot of people that hop from ER to ER. I said OK and??? He said maybe you pulled a muscle. I said no I have had many kidney stones before and you just stated to me that I have several so why are you going to insinuate that I have a pulled muscle? No response. Then he asked why didn’t you go see you primary care doctor. I responded with I tried but she is on vacation until the 12 of the month and they have no openings. And I can’t get in to see a urologist until August 20th. He then said well where does it hurt. I told him my flank area on the right side and right under my right rib cage. He said lay down and let me feel your stomach because that is where your gallbladder is located. I layed down and he said well it seems to be fine. But you can come in on moday and get a gallbladder ultrasound and see if you have gall stones. But I’m going to release you. My mother sitting right beside me said well what do you expect her to do about the pain. He said I can give her a non-addictive pain pill. Is that all in a rude voice? I said no I need a doctors note until monday to try and get into the doctor. He said okay and walked out of the room. I was so embarrased and felt so put down by the fact of him insinuating that I had a pill problem and I was ER hopping. I’m pist. So after this long story here is my questions. If you have several kidney stones in your upper right kidney does it hurt? and has anyone had the run around like this? Just give me some comments please. Im ticked. But at the same time I need to figure out what to do.

It happened while I was lying in the ER yesterday, waiting for pain meds to kick in. My thigh started tickling and when I touched it, it was numb from groin to knee on the front, same side as kidney stone. The stone hasn’t moved in 24 hours. Could it be possibly pressing on a nerve somehow? The Dr just shrugged when I asked about it. The stone is 4 mm and the pain has been excruciating off and on for over a week.

The doc’ did not know what was causing it. I was treated for ghiardia and had two severe trips to the ER due to dihydration, abdominal pain, etc. They found a 2.7 mm kidney stone and a week later when I was in ER again with kidney pain chils and sweats, the second cat scan showed no stone so they to passed the stone. I did not feel any pain at all so I was astonished and a little sceptical since I have fibromyalgia. But even after that every time I would get off the antibiotic, kidney pain, chills and sweats returned. When I was on antibiotic again the symptoms disapeared. The urologist said that according to my urine sample I do not have a kidney infection and she was baffled about the effects of the antibiotics. The urologist said that since I had blood and bacteria in my urine during the first ER trip I was having a kidney infection, which went untreated. Although the ER doc felt my lower back which was sore and sent me to the cat scan he failed to diagnose a kidney infection.

I never did think that the two could be related but:

I have had a lot (18) of kidney stones and my urologist seems to be leaning toward hyperparathyroidism. On another note, I have completely lost my ability to scream. I can’t squeal, scream, or make any high pitched "girly" sounds at all. I used to be able to. If I try, it only sounds odd like air coming out and barely a squeak, if at all and honestly kind of hurts (feels like that lump in throat feeling and kind of like I just threw up) It feels like something is preventing the sound form being made. It seems like the feeling is around where the Adam’s apple (or Eve’s!) is. Could hyperparathyroidism be related to this? It appears to be getting worse. I haven’t brought it up to my general practioner or urologist because, quite frankly, I don’t never thought much about it. And if I do, I’m afraid I won’t be taken seriously. I’m not quite sure what to do or think about this or how to approach my Dr. about it. Any ideas?

Apparently, that’s what I have. Could I just drink a lot of water and have it go away? I don’t see how I could have gotten this infection in the first place. =\

I started having a mild dull pain under my right rib a month ago. It would happen for a few seconds and stop for a long time. As time progressed I started having flank pain, dark/frequent urine, chills, weakness, fever, mental fogginess, painful constipation, low blood sugar, lower back pain, nausea, vomiting and bladder pain. I went to a doctor and was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection. My symptoms worsened as I started Bactrum for my uti. I started being unable to walk more than a few feet, my back would start hurting and my muscles would give out on me. I felt as if walking was injuring my kidneys. The flank pain was so bad when I laid on my sides. I went back to the doctor two days later and was put on Cipro. My symptoms started improving, and I was able to stand and walk comfortably. However, my symptoms came back, but slightly different. I went back to the doctor again and they found no remaining infection, but I was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis. I asked the doctor what he thought about the pain I was having and thought it might be stones in my kidney or gallbladder.

Since then I’ve been vomiting and dry heaving when I wake up in the morning, my groin area hurts when I have a bowel movement and sometimes when I pee, the pain in my rib has gotten worse, it occasionally radiates to my sternum area and to my back under my shoulder blade, I get chills every once in a while, I have brief but sharp moderate pain in isolated areas of my urinary tract and I have trouble concentrating and going to the bathroom. I have a family history of gallbladder disease/stones, kidney stones, fatty liver and diabetes. I had a bout of gastritis exactly a year ago and had an ultra sound of my gallbladder to rule out gallstones and was normal. I woke up last night with pain under my sternum and felt dizzy. I can’t see my family doctor for a week and am afraid that I will have to go to the emergency room before it happens. What does this sound like?

BTW, I haven’t had any signs of jaundice or pale stools.

I’ve never had a yeast infection before, but it seems like I’m dealing with a lot of the symptoms. Mostly burning and pain with urination, no discharge or itching. After 2 rounds of antibiotics in the past month it would certainly make sense.
I know it’s not an STI, although it may be a UTI or kidney stone, I’ve had those in the past.

But I’m not sure and can’t see my doctor for at least another day, can I take an over-the-counter treatment even if I’m not certain? Is it safe?
