People have told me and I’ve looked into it on the Internet and even books and came to a strong belief that cranberry juice can reduce or even remove the kidney stones. I’ve also tried drinking lime juice to aid but I was wondering how long would this method take??
Those who say that the cranberry juice worked and went to the doctor and said it disappeared, how long did it take?

I’ve been doubled over in pain for a week today! The stones too small to be seen with an x-ray, but it just won’t pass! Is it gonna hurt worse? Will I feel it pass? Will that be the end of the pain?

What could this be?

I think it has occurred simultaneously with a virus.

I have virus symptoms similar to a cold and a low grade fever.

They tested for bladder infection but found no bacteria, just "moderate" blood in the urine.

I also have lower side and lower back pain.

I’m on day 4 of Cipro, just in case it is a bladder infection.

They x-rayed for kidney stones but I won’t know ’til next week.

Any idea of what this could be? I still have aching in my lower back/sides somewhat and still had a fever as of yesterday.

I have a 5mm stone stuck in my ureter right above my bladder. Its been there for at least 3 months. I am trying flomax for seven days to see if it passes and will be scheduled for surgery if it doesnt. The surgery will be at least a month away because they are very backed up. I have tried to flush it out by increasing my fluid intake and it hasnt worked. Any ideas for me to try? I am miserable.. Also, has anyone had a stone removed surgically? What was the recovery like? Thanks in advance.

Currently on antibiotics for the next 6 or so days and have returned from a short sojourn in hospital due to the infection. I would like to cosy up to my wife, but am worried that sex may cause a rerun of the infection, which, by the way, I would not wish on my worst enemy.
The doc says the infection is due to an "irretable bladder" which reacts to stress and was not caused by my prostate or bad hygiene.
Sorry, "irritable"

Okay, my mom passed a kidney stone and noticed blood in her urine. She’s 55 so I’m really concerned and protective. She went to the doctors but has to wait for some results. Can this be deadly? And what can treat it?

My Lady Friend is a Single Mother/3 Children with Kidney Stones & accompanying ailments who has seen 2 Doctors in less than a week, yet has been unable to persuade these Doctors to write her a prescription for any Painkillers other than a few Tylenol # 3s while we wait for a barrage of tests that might take a week or more. Her pain is constant & quite severe, and while I do not wish to merely treat the symptoms rather than the cause, I refuse to subject her to continuous agony simply because of her lack of affluence.

Today I was sitting at work when i felt a sharp pain around my kidneys in my back. I soon left for home and was in extreme pain laying down, when the pain slowly moved to my intestinal area. After about 2 hours, the pain slowly subsided. Im convinced its a kidney stone (unless it could be something else), as nausea accompanied this experience and the pain was in the right place. I didnt pass anything, so would these symptoms eventually be returning?

I just did a home urine analysis (multistix GP Regeant strips) and have just realised i don’t know what it all means, so if anyone knows.. please tell me :

my Leucocytes came up as 500+++ ( i am reading off the bottle guide for colour change on stick)
Nitrate – nothing changed
Protein – Tr. ;ind.
PH – 6.0
Blood – 80++
Specific gravity – 1.030

The reason i bought this was because i recently had a really bad urine infection, and now i am being tested out for possible kidney stone (i am due for an IVP x ray soon, the normal x ray showed a little round thing that they watn to be sure is a stone). And since my first infection i get odd symptoms and pains similar to those during the infection, so i thought these dipsticks is a good way to check myself out regularly, especially if the stone is still in me.

I just passed a kidney stone today in the ER at around 1:00pm est, pain went away after along with pressure to have to urinate. I got home around 4:00pm est, went to the store, had dinner and had a shower. At around 7:30pm est I started having pressure to pee a lot and have gone in streams and little drips at a time.

Does this mean there still are bits of the stone getting out? They sent me home after the cat scan so im guessing the worst is over.

Is it normal to still feel pressure but no pain after kidney stone passing aftermath?

Thanks for you time!
Thanks for the well wishes Windy.
**Wendy.

Been that sort of day.

my 16 yr old toy poodle has a kidney stone (suspected) he has had one before(passed it), and symptoms same this time. Vet wants to X-Ray for confirmation and if so they say surgery is the recommendation but in the same breath, say his expectancy of living through a surgery at his age is not 100% and if he makes it his health might deteriorate leaving me to put him down anyway.

They gave me several options:

1. have the x-ray and surgery pay roughly 0 and get my dog for however much longer he lives

2. Have the x-ray and surgery, his health deteriorates due to stress of recovery and have to put him to sleep pay roughly 0

3. Be happy for the 16 years we shared and put him to sleep pay roughly 0

They were not rude, simply gave me the facts. But I walked out of there feeling like they were tying to convince me to put him to sleep…

Has anyone had success with out surgery trying alternative means to help? I am not finding much online other than diet change which I am not sure will effect him since he already has it…the vet says at his age diet change may just upset his system…

We are on day 2 they have Monday morning reserved for us be it surgery or to lay him down I am just looking for any advise it is appreciated…sorry so long
Rainbow: I know, I respect and welcome anyone’s opinion as a fellow pet lover on the matter, however, I am hoping to find someone who has an alternative method maybe their vet used or if someone had an older dog like mine do well…

In the end, I will do what is best for him, even if it is not whats best for me…
A- you suspect right, his health otherwise is fine…well, he has accidents a lot but the vet said that is his old age nothing to be concerned with…he is deaf as can be and half blind but I am sure when I am as old as he I will be too…so I don’t feel like I should give up and don’t feel right have a surgery that could kill him…

The pain killer idea is actually great, that never crossed my mind, I will contact my vet and see what she says..it couldn’t hurt to try..as long as he isn’t suffering I will try anything.

I am already feeling the pain of them moving down my tubes but will it hurt when they are actually coming out? thanks
Ok, first of all I am 16 years old and have never had a kid. Next, I’ve been in the hospital for the last four days. Now, am I going to know when it is about to drop out or will it just come out?
I am doped up on synthetic heroine. If I wasn’t, I would be back on the floor rolling around screaming and throwing up because of the pain.

I’m just curious to hear any stories that any men have about passing their kidney stones. What do they really feel like when they come out of your Johnson?

If so can you take a perscription for the URI and use an over the counter med for the yeast infection?

I have a dog that starting peeing every time she’s let in the house. We’re talking within 1sec-10 mins.

Yesterday my husband brought her in for a bath and to crate her a night and as soon as he placed her in the tub she squatted. He washed her and took her back outside. My husband doesn’t do the ‘dog thing’ so his solution is to just keep her outside. Which is fine, they have a dog house we built for them (all out 2 by 4s, haha), food, water and we still take her on walks and play with her.

But she didn’t have this problem before…well she wasn’t fully house trained but she never made messes so fast. I checked out the ASPCA website and got this:

"If your dog soils indoors, it’s important to visit his veterinarian to rule out medical causes before doing anything else. Common medical reasons for inappropriate urination and defecation include gastrointestinal upset, a change in diet, a urinary tract infection, a weak sphincter, hormone-related problems after spay surgery, bladder stones, diabetes, kidney disease, Cushing’s disease, neurological problems, age-related incontinence and certain medications. Please see our article on Medical Causes of House Soiling in Dogs to learn more."

I know the obvious answer is to take her to the vet but I’m looking for anyone whose had this problem and what they did/turned out.

Last night I went to the emergency room because I was in horrible pain, they diagnosed me with gall stones and said I would need surgery. However the surgeon was busy last night saving someone’s life so I was told to call his office on Tuesday and make an appointment for the surgery. I was just wondering if any of you with experience what I should absolutely avoid eating in the mean time? I know that I’m not suppose to have fatty/greasy foods and such, but are there any other less obvious risky foods that I should avoid during the next few days? And what sort of foods would you recommend eating? Right now, I’ve got a bunch of fresh fruit and raw veggies, but I’m trying to find something that would actually be a meal, verses a snack.

Also, for those of you that have had your gall bladder removed, what was your recovery like? I just had a c-section and the recovery sucked.

Thanks so much for all your answers in advance.
