I have had sever kidney pain for weeks. I went to the hospital, they found a kidney stone and blood in my urine. The kidney stone is lodged in there and is not causing any blockage. Therefore they said it couldn’t be causing me pain. Anyone ever have this happen to them or any ideas about what else could be going on?

I am not able to get an appointment in for months. I dont have insurance or medicad so I go to the health dept. But they aren’t able to see my for months. My urinary tract infection began yesterday or at least that’s when I started to feel the symptoms. I only drink water already and I cut sweets out of my diet about three days ago. I need advice on how to get rid of the infection without antibiotics.

I have a history of having UTI’s and kidney infections throughout my entire life, starting from childhood. According to my mom, my first one was when I was about a year old. It seems that the older I get, the worse they become. And, every single time there is an infection in a kidney, it is always the right one, never the left. I specifically remember my right kidney being infected 4 times. These times are between age 16 and 26, with numerous UTI’s in between.

Recently they’ve become severe and frequent- a UTI in Nov 08, I was on Cipro for 1 day and it wasn’t working, turned into a severe kidney infection and sepsis within 24 hours of symptoms showing; a UTI in Jan 09 cured by Levaquin; and now another UTI treated by Levaquin for 2 days, then flank pain came on suddenly and I ended up in the ER for IV antibiotics but was instructed to continue Levaquin upon release. Hospital discharge was yesterday, and since then some symptoms have returned.

I’m seeing a urologist, for 3+ months now, and I’m so frustrated that they can’t seem to find anything wrong. It’s causing me so much worry and stress that I’ll be stuck with another life-threatening infection again. I was on Macrodantin for 2 months, and have gotten 2 UTI’s while on it. So, obviously it’s not working. I’m doing everything correctly… drinking tons of water, wearing cotton underwear only and no thongs, go to the bathroom within a few minutes after sex every time, taking cranberry pills…

So far, all of these have come back normal:
-VCUG
-Cystoscopy
-Kidney and Bladder ultrasounds
-CT scan with contrast dye
-CT scan without contrast to rule out stones
-Uroflow is scheduled for this week

So far what we’ve determined is that there are no structural abnormalities or reflux, however the VCUG showed that I didn’t empty my bladder completely. The urologist thinks that’s fine because the hospital I went to normally has patients stand up to void, but they had me stay laying down so not everything came out. As uncomfortable as this was, is this something I should ask to have repeated the other way?

Any ideas from medical professionals? I’m frustrated that it’s taking so long to find a diagnosis! Are there anythings specific that I should ask for test wise? Or anything you think it could be? Anything I can do to convey to my doctor that I can’t deal with the stress and pain any more, never mind my astronomical medical bills… I want them to move quicker on this. They seem to not want me to do testing more than ever few weeks or so. I need answers now.

I recently had a CT scan for what I thought was a pulled muscle in my lower abdomen, possibly groin muscle. The scan showed that I had several kidney cysts as well as an obstruction, more than likely a stone, in one of my kidneys. I have had no other symptoms such as infections or incontinence-kidney infections or back pain-nothing there-just the ab and groin pain. Could this be my problem?

This has been for most of my life. But I have been told that this isn’t normal. How many should you have a week? Sometimes I only have 1 a week. In those cases it HURTS my tummy when I do finally go. How can I fix this with out taking laxitives and stool softeners? Can taking those cause long term damages?

What about diet? I only drink water, due to kidney stones.
I do "try" but nothing, and I mean NOTHING, happens. I have to wait for it to hurt before something moves. I’ll try more water.
I am in my mid 20’s.

ok so i have a kidney stone (small) and i’m in some pain, i had to go to the ER and they told me to drink plenty of fluids till i pass (piss) the stone out myself, and they prescribed me a pain medication. i heard its hurts like hell to pass a kidney stone. is this my only option? to drink water till the stone comes out. how pailful will that be? and how long does it usually take to pass a stone? is it possible to pass a stone with little to no pain?

Has anyone heard of this treatment for kidney stones? Boyfriend had a painful kidney stone last year, he went to the ER and got painkilllers/antibiotics, CT scan to confirm there was one small stone, but they gave him a strainer and told him to wait for it to pass.
He waited 3-days ina Vicodin stupor.
Then I read in Men’s Health magazine, that lemon juice is being studied for stones….he was ready for the whole ordeal to be over and drank a liter of lemonade….literally 1 hour later he passed the stone, but it was in several pieces (looked like sand) and NO pain?!
Does this only work with certain stones?
And how often should this be done to prevent them, if it does….I feel like it defitinely worked – they told him he would most likely have significant pain…but alas, none.

These are NOT Illnesses, but only symptoms that you must learn to ask yourself—“from which of the five causes does it come from???”

These are the symptoms that were once known as real illnesses; that YOU can now learn to reverse or prevent, and/or improved by yourself with my self-healing methods.

There are two words that will make this possible to do or impossible to do:
These two words have a magic all their own –they are magical because they remind me of “Open Sesame” — once you use these words they open a new life for you if you apply them or close the door to it, they are called: Discipline and Dedication. With out these magical words nothing is possible—I will give you the path to a new life, but you must walk it and never get off of it — until the day that your real cause-point is found and eliminated.

Okay first of all, Lloyd eats constantly. It’s really annoying and he’s getting huge. But lately he’s had white stuff on his butt, but it doesn’t always look like worms coming out of his butt but like white stuff on his balls. So is it worms or urinary tract infection? What are the signs and treatment of a UTI? And is his constant eating a sign of anything? I’m serious, he does not stop eating. Literally.
Note: He eats dry food. Is this bad for him?
Actually it looks more yellow. I’m sorry these details are pretty gross I guess so thanks for help guys.
He hasn’t been peeing anywhere outside of the catbox but I suppose it could get worse. I’m going to buy him some UTI canned food to see if that helps until tomorrow when the vet is open.

I don’t have any kidney infection or anything and it’s not the normal pregnancy back pain. It’s only right above my right kidney and it’s sharp pains tht get worse when I walk. I’ve had it for 2 months now so I don’t think my pregnancy is in any direct danger from it. The doctors can’t find anything wrong and don’t really try to either. Could I have kidney stones or something more serious?

I’ve had the same sort of pain for about a week. It starts just to the right side of my right hip bone (in my lower abdomen) and radiates down my right leg into my knee and around my pelvic bone across my lower back. The pain is not constant (some days I have no pain at all) and is a bit like a cramping/stabbing hurt. It started out as a non-rhythmic throbbing, but as the week has gone by I’m now in some sort of pain when ever I’m on my feet. When sitting down the hip/abdominal pain goes away and I’m left with a dull lower back ache. I’ve also noticed that the pain always seems to flare up when ever I have to use the bathroom (bowel movement). I haven’t had any trouble "going" but I do seem to be going more frequently. I have no nausea or fever, nor do I have a noticeably swollen abdomen. I’ve racked my brain and searched the internet for causes of these symptoms but I can’t seem to diagnose them exactly.

Kidney stones? Appendicitis? Ovarian cysts? Crohn’s disease? Help!
The pain is just on the left side of my right hip bone. (sorry for the typo)

Hi. So I just went through a kidney stone last week, and it was awful. Anyway, while I was doing some research, kidney stones were described as "one of the worst pains a person can feel." I was pretty sure that’s what giving birth was supposed to be like… right?

So, for those women who have experienced both, is it similar at all? The level of pain, I mean. This is my first pregnancy, and I’m just curious.

I have prescription access to vicodin, toradol, tylonol 3 and oxycodone. however, most take about 30 minutes to relieve the debilitating pain of a kidney stone. I have started grinding the pills up and swallowing the powder (faster absorption because of more surface area). If i were to snort the powder would i get faster relief? and if i were really desperate enough would it be dangerous to melt the powder and inject it?
Ok, ignore the fact that i have kidney stones. it’s a disease, can’t change that. So let’s talk about handling the pain.

This morning I was prescribed percocet because I have kidney stones.I was also given morphine before leaving the hospital.Ever since taking the percocet,I have been itching EVERYWHERE on my body and it is extremely bad.Like everywhere on my face.Is this normal or do I need to call the doctor? And what can I do to help relieve it?
They prescribed it at the emergency room, and my doctor isn’t open until Monday.
I did the benadryl thing, and it didn’t help at all.

I’m wanting other people’s opinion, especially any medical people. I’m wondering if it would be goofy of me to ask to be tested for Wilson’s Disease. I don’t think I have the rings they talk about(do you have to?), but below are my symptoms and my parents.

my symptoms
anemia
enlarged liver-seen on cat scan-might be reidels lobe
mild fatty liver-seen on cat scan
high ast and alt
muscle weakness
tingling in feet and hands
digestive problems-constipation
fibromyalgia
nightvision problems-problems with bright lights
memory problems
very itchy legs
weight gain

father-parkinsons symptoms,gait,anxiety,constipation-his parkinsons isn’t really major shakes even after 10 years of having it.

mom-severe insomnia,kidney stones,anxiety,constipation,ostioperosis,nightvision problems,memory problems,weight gain,macular degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma.

If not Wilson’s, what might I get checked for? I’ve had a hepatitis test and that was negative.
My liver isn’t inflamed, so I don’t think that is it. I don’t think it’s scarred either.
